I know that I am new to this game but either the ad is misleading or wrong. If it is registered, as per the ad, 09 April 2008, can it be an MY 2009? I was under the (presumably wrong) impression that the MY for 2009 started in 09 2008 and not 04 2008.
Show me I'm wrong and I will gladly stand in the corner.

just queried this MY issues AM dealer reply:
this car is the first of the 2009 MY 470 BHP cars with the revised dash and glass key. First owned by Aston Martin so this is why it is a little earlier on the Reg date.
any further thoughts?

470 bhp came in in 2008 anyway.
Ask them when AM sold it to the private individual and what was the mileage at that time.
This should tell us what we need to know

My wife has put away the PH book on AM's for xmas for me - Ill have to try and get her to let me have a sneeky peek - didnt plan on buying an AM this early in the Year.
Right have further info from the dealer:
The date it was sold to the last keeper was 28/08/2009, I have no record of the mileage at that time I am afraid. The registration number is KX08 PCF.
Surpised there is no mileage for the date it was sold by AM?!

Only sensible to research the history of a car before purchase. You wouldn't buy a house without a survey.I asked similar questions a couple of months ago regarding a Morning Frost ?? V12V I was looking at.
Still waiting for an answer from Wilmslow, but heard elsewhere that it was ex press or demo.
Being ex press or demo will not mean 'don't buy'. It will just make you look more closely at certain items

This DB9 was owned by AM for 1 yr and 4 mths but no record of the milage and then new owner has had it 2 half yrs which does give me warmer feelings.
What other issues if was a press car to look out for?

They should be able to give you an indicative mileage from the service book or service sheets ??The date it was sold to the last keeper was 28/08/2009, I have no record of the mileage at that time I am afraid. The registration number is KX08 PCF.

Either way, 16 months seems too long to be solely a demo / press car. Any chance of speaking to the previous owner ??

Go over the paintwork and alloys very carefully, especially in areas where stonechips are most prelevant - including the roof of all things !!
You will be getting a 1 year warranty so this should ease most of your concerns

KX plates are usually press cars I'm led to believe. Mine is KX59 and was a display car for the MPH show. Odd that there is no mileage displayed though The date it was sold to the last keeper was 28/08/2009, I have no record of the mileage at that time I am afraid. The registration number is KX08 PCF.

Some more info:
"Not too sure as to the initial usage of the DB9. As KX registrations are factory cars, not necessarily used as press cars, could be a sales demonstrator or a management car. The thing to consider is that anything that needed to be done would have been done and the car is reconditioned prior to being sold by Aston Martin to the dealer network.
Servicing wise, it has been done every year in accordance with the manufactures recommendations. I have looked into the warranty history and there have been no major warranty issues other than a couple of minor recalls a new D button on the gear box selection and a new windscreen, so nothing to worry about.
July 2009 @8316 by Aston Martin Fleet Operations
September 2010 @13682 Grange Aston Martin
August 2011@16994 by Grange Aston Martin.
Sounding better to me now although very low use over the last year - any pearls of wisdom thoughts?

For what it's worth, I think this is a pretty good buy right now. The dealer has had it for a while and is probably ready for a sale (my rather tatty speadsheet shows this car was on at 64950 in December, subsequently reduced to 62950 in Feb and now at 59950).
Given those figures, I doubt there's huge scope for further discount, but take Jockman's excellent advice on finding extras that are worth something to you but cheap for the dealer and you can probably get close to where you'd like to be on real cost to change.
Also, if you can get a glance at Grant's excellent book from wherever your wife has hidden it(!), theres a special section on buying and inspecting your chosen Aston - very useful.

Update - the car was sold before I could see it.
