Any powerful car is going to spin it's wheels if either a) you apply the torque too quickly or b) you don't know what you're doing.

Would a rear engine ferrari suffer this badly?

Try different tyres that do not require heat to make them work. There is now (or has been for sometime) an option tyre for V12V, which is a pirelli (non corsa). Others have muted Michelin ps also. Corsa's are track orientated and as such need heat to work. It has been much discussed on here.

Lotto fitted girly tyres and loved the extra grip when cold and noticed no issue when pressing on, although he drives like a girl yes

Seriously, they are fine after the initial heat has been put into them, but they are crap when cold. Warning this is not advice....... I drove mainly with traction off, that got heat in quickly, tyres only lasted 4,000 miles though.

Your question about say a 430 Ferrari , the answer is no a Ferrari or Porsche will get the power down straight away.

Is that due to weight distribution?

Cockernee - As I mentioned I'm already referring to warm weather summer driving where the tyres have already been heated...

Yes for sure. Porsche with its engine hanging over the rear wheels gets excellent traction, mid engine cars as well.

That's not right then, I could always give it a fair amount of throttle once warm from a standing start as long as not too many revs and a gentle prod of the loud pedal. I even have a video of a standing start and no wheelspin, but plenty of throttle wink What year is stamped on the tyre? Some track compounds do not last many years before they go off.

0 to 20 mph? Who gives a st....., If you want to play boy racers why not buy a boy racer car biggrin

ANY car with 500+ bhp will spin the wheels in 1st gear even with hot slicks on if you nail it with no thought to traction

Cockers in DSC-off mode. Gets some heat into the tyres smile

How do you find these? I'm going to replace tyres next month for autumn/winter and not sure whether to chose the Sottozero or the regular P-Zero.

That's what I do. I've posted several times about my experiences in challenging, non-winer conditions with the Corsas. I have never felt at risk. When they break grip (which is at a late stage), it is predictable.

Just bought as new pair of rears for about £700, a saving of about £500 on buying from the dealer. THe current pair are below 3mm now, but still feel good.

Ideally, you fit narrower tyres (235 and 275) on V8 19" wheels. That's the OEM solution.

I love the V12V alloys far too much to not use them for 6-months of the year. As such I'll be doing a direct replacement on the Corsa's!

It is a "no brainer" as far as i was concerned. You simply cannot build enough heat into the Corsas during the colder months so you are skidding around quite a lot and as the original poster said you generate a lot of wheel spin off the lights. With the Sottozeros you have much better grip. They are also better in the wet so overall it is the sensible choice. I have even experienced that on snow covered surfaces the V12V will go up hills where SUVs on all weather tyres will struggle.

In terms of costs you have to remember that you are saving your Corsas for 6 months as well - and a trip into the armco or the kerb with Corsas iwill set you back much more than the 1500 pounds it costs to buy piece of mind.

I really like both. The winter wheel is a V8 one with a dark grey finish.

Summer

Winter

Apologies for the lack of scenic backdrop. My parking space near the office.

Like them, but did you really have to respray the car to match them......? Now that is an expensive set of wheels wink
