Now just waiting for poor Cockers to be hassled about abusing cars - let's be clear, none of his cars have ever had a problem a new engine, gearbox, brakes and tyres wouldn't fix yes, oh I think there is a story about a ditch once though....
Cockers might look, sound and smell like a bender but he is one hell of a driver yes

Andrew I've priced up a new carbon fibre splitter so your worries are over, mon ami smile

There seemed to be varying PSS tyres on tyre traders when i looked. Did you use a specific one or standard if such a thing exists?
There aren't many (if any) variants of Pilot Supersports (PSS) tyres.

There are, however, lots of different types of Pilot Sport tyres. (PS, PS2, PS3, PSS, Pilot Cups etc). Pilot Sport is Michelin's performance sub-brand.

Tyreleader often list old tyres. Look for the MY11, for example (IIRC).

David - try Event tyres, they can supply only or supply and fit. I paid a grand supply only for PSS on the Rapide in 20". Make sure you get the DOT code specified - they need to be under 2 years old really. You dont get this type of info from the big Euro online retailers.

Never used them so no idea if the price is for a reason, ie stock thats been made a while ago. but the same can be argued for most if not all the internet dealers.

Nope, the tyres at the top of the list are reasonably 'fresh'. If you look further down, you will see some PSSs listed as DOT 2011. Avoid those.

DOT codes on the rears are as follows:

06,2010
29,2012

Could aging be an issue here or are they fine?

Yes. One of them is over 5 years old.

Is that going to have a severely detrimental effect on grip though?

As stated, I would not use them. These are the tyres on the car, not the furry dice. Mine lasted about 3 years which is the max I've heard of and I drive like a 'George'.

You could always try them and see. smile
