All,
If you are interested in the ECU and you were on the list I posted earlier today, you should have received a private mail from myself. However, I think Pistonheads might have stopped a lot of them with their automatic spam detection...

Does anyone know if the internals of the ECU can just be bought from Volvo (or somewhere else)? Paying Aston $630 then spending and extra $?? (what's the conversion rate now?) for the better case doesn't make sense as I might as well just buy the glass keys.

I'm using the car every day and I go through one of these crappy ECUs every year because the buttons collapse. So, ideally, I buy the electronics and the better case, then just swap in new electronics as they break. If there's no way to do that its actually more cost effective to use the glass ECU unless you're really clumsy, since they don't wear out so fast.

Quick status Update.
ECU:
16 firm paid orders in, which is enough for me to proceed with the manufacture of the tooling. I am trying to find a slot with the CNC machine shop now.
I will have to give final numbers for the first batch of CFRP ECUs within the next week or so.
Please contact me if you want to secure a slot by then.
Volvo fob:
Enough interest to get going on CAD. Trying to find a spare key with one of the dealers. I'll keep you posted.

Personally I think this is great and thanks to mb1 for driving this. Second that. MB1, do you have all the contact details of those who are interested, Volvo and ECU, for when the thread is deleted?
