oh, and I have been looking at the Volvo fob and I will have a proposal in the next week or so.
I have done most of the CAD and now needs to get quotes for tools and parts.

Hello All,

The last batch of CFRP ECU is now fully completed and units have been dispatched.

I have 5 left if anyone is interested. I will not do any other ones after that. They are too much work !

Just PM me if interested.

Right... time for the Volvo fob unit now - about time, I know.

Since this one does not have to fit into a tight hole in the car, I have designed a more simple cover that will simply fit around the original case.

I will get quotes next week.

For this one, for the buttons I will use carbon with weaved colours to distinguish them : carbon with blue or red stitching. And texalium as well as for the ECUs.
(see last picture)

Please find pictures of the proposed design below. Please PM me if you are interested.

Also, let me have your feedback as I can change the design before we start making any moulds.

I am still waiting on quotation for the parts and tools.

The carbon fairing for the volvo fob will add 1.6mm in total thickness and 2.2mm in total width.

Honestly, removing the outer shell to house the electronic is a nightmare... That's what I have done on the ECU and it is very difficult to get right... I am not doing that ever again ! :-)

I will post costs as soon as I have more information.

Still playing around with the original key. Tonight I bonded in the keys from an original fob and will add some more silicone/rubber around the edges and then polish up.

Impressive David, well done.
I prefer the texalium buttons though despite the lack of signs :-)

I will be opening a new thread for the volvo fob as requested.

Also, I still have 3 CFRP ECU available. Any takers ? They are the very last :-D
One of them is fully assembled with the internals of a brand new plastic ECU key and therefore ready to be programmed to any car by your dealer.
