It's not just a non-UK prejudice Rich.....try being Scottish, Welsh or Irish.

Or even Northern English.

Indeed you almost make me feel guilty for being born in London, but not quite wink

I could mention Bletchley, Silverstone, Waddesdon, Newport Pagnell, Gaydon, Donnington all being north of Oxford but I take your point and accept that as a Jockman your knowledge of the whereabouts of Oxford is probably as good as my ability to pinpoint Falkirk on a map! biggrin

Where's all the bhing on AMOC, still the Centenary Rip Off / Clique Only thread? What a farce rolleyes

100 of the organisers and their mates get to show their cars, everyone else gets to subsidise them by paying £75 to park in a muddy field. Awesome.

Blenheim it ain't. Now THAT was an event to be proud of yes

Glad it’s not just me seeing this event as a little odd.

This is certainly a fun topic. No holding back then.

I have not joined AMOC, but when considering it, I did think the membership cost is quite high for a motoring club.

I liked the contribution which was along the lines of, '100 AMOC inner circle get to display their cars, and the rest of the members just pay for it, and park in a muddy field'.

Had again thought about joining, before going to the Brands Hatch AMOC event this summer. Perhaps that will also be 'inner circle only' doing the circuit parade.
I think I might go to Brands anyway, but leave my Aston Martin at home. They do have some Gaydon races planned. How did that slip through the AMOC committee? wink

I'm an AMOC memnber but haven't jumped through the hoops required to view it sadly. In the old days you just said you were an AMOC member and they beleived you. How many would lie, half a dozen weirdos at worst?

They need to stop with the whole rolled-up trouser leg/funny handshake stuff. It's a car club, but for a many it's an entire way of life.

FWIW; I think the member ship fees are worth it, it's a great club, the magazine is very nice and the events are usually open to all. This one has really irked a lot of people though.

No hoops, just register your AMOC membership number on the site.

Indeed just tell Webby (Roger) your membership number and you're up with full access with a few hours.

My reading of the text tells me....

1. Tony Hall started the kicking off wink
2. I could get a few customers out of this as people are talking about ordering boxes.
3. We may have inadvertently invited everyone to Gaydon on Sunday morning yikes
4. Some people like wearing red trousers.
5. The lunatic aka 'Marcos' is strangely quiet on this subject.
6. I want to be afforded the courtesy of not having my details made public.
7. There are some genuinely good people in AMOC.
8. There are a few myopic dinosaurs too rolleyes
9. A definition of 'old fart' needs to be agreed upon - perhaps call a meeting to decide.
10. I need to get some lunch smile

Now you're just creating obstacles, in fairness it's hardly a complication caused by the club that you don't know your membership number.
