KarlFranz said: I think that was actually me you're referring to and I only gave away what I could observe via the videos posted since I have never seen the car in person. I was just wondering if there's more interesting details beyond what I already figured out on my own. No, KarlFranz, I was referring to someone else who disclosed the body construction.

Been watching this thread with interest. Whilst I cannot offer any concrete evidence in print, I have been advised by a reliable source Project AM310 will be officially unveiled as the new Vanquish. I'm hoping that by the time 310 hits the showrooms, it might have lost a few of the stick-on styling bits, and revert to a cleaner look, hopefully doing the name some justice.

I have no idea what name they will give 310 and IMO, it should be a totally new name or a name that's not been used for some time but regardless of whether they call it Vanquish or not, I doubt many Vanquish fans will see AM310 as being any closer to the old Vanquish than the current DBS is. That's not because I wasn't impressed with it, but because to me, it seeems more akin to an excellent evolution of DB9/S than something that has anything in common with the original Vanquish

I recognise elements of this are subjective but to answer your question, no more than a DBS does.

Interesting developments. I'm starting to wonder if Aston intentionally unveiled an outrageous concept version of the car that people will object to so everyone will be pleasantly surprised with the actual car when it is officially revealed. A pretty clever, albeit risky, strategy but possible necessary when the current design is so beloved.

Can just see it now... A vanquish exactly as before, but with new front/rear bumpers, side sills and an engine tweak. And a new dash. Not that I'd complain though as its such an awesome looking car already! The Vanquish RS! :-P

But then again, wasn't the DBS meant to be the natural successor to the Vanquish in any case? Building on the current DBS design rather than reverting to the old Vanquish design is probably de rigeur. Unless Aston were to fancy a bit of retro

Unless Aston were to fancy a bit of retro But this is my point - Vanquish was the range topper, then DBS, now this Can you imagine if they had called DBS 'Vanquish' ? DBS is not really an evolution of Vanquish yet I see 310 as an evolution of DBS So why call the 310 a Vanquish ? Won't stop them doing it of course, because vanquish is so highly regarded it adds prestige to the product. Has anyone thought that bearing in mind the code is now so well known, why not just call it AM310 ?!?!

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...has just launched - it's the video we saw at the preview at Gaydon - doesn't really give much away other than we can now confirm what we were told at Gaydon, that the body is all carbon (it mentions 'cloaked in a suit of carbon' in this official film)

Calling it Vanquish would really show a lack of imagination... Why should this car be called "Vanquish". The Vanquish is the Vanquish, period. Aston, find an other name.

Genuine question......
Would AM seriously release a new DBS before a new DB9? That's like Porsche releasing a new GT3RS before the bogo 911. Or Lotus releasing a new Exige before a new Elise. Or BMW releasing a new M series before the actual series!!
It just doesn't make sense to me that everyone genuinely believes it's a DBS. It's far more likely to be a DB9 replacement, Vanquish replacement or simply a brand new model. AM have never said it's a DBS, ever. Even my local dealer says it isn't.
