bogie said: you need to find perspective perhaps ...I often have the same upgrade thoughts my 2006 car is worth about £25K if im lucky...and a 4.7 Roadster is +£35K more is it £35K more fun? ...not really sure its nice to upgrade, and spend £10K on what youve got is cheaper, will keep you interested for a while longer, but you never get the money back on mods Id just save up some more...the newer cars are depreciating faster than yours, so the gap to upgrade IS closing ....another years bonus and I will hopefully be in my 4.7 +1 Had I been on a tighter budget last year I'd have bought a 4.3 roadster and let BR put the GT4 4.7 in and sort out the suspension. ALOT cheaper than buying a later car. Only down side is the mods will retain no value whne you come to sell it (possibly the opposite as I know from too much experience!)

Ice27 said: But Aston don't offer wood inside a Vantage. And I can't recall any pictures of anybody adding a wooden ski slope to a Vantage. They did as an option on the 4.3's, I saw a couple with the ash ski slope With the Q Package I'm sure you could have what ever you like (at a price) And lets not forget the ski slope on a DB is the same as a 4.7 vantage When I first started looking I quite fancied a green roadster with a bit of wood on the interior but then I lost my bus pass and pipe

George H said: If I had my way you wouldn't be able to get matte/satin finishes or black alloys either. Sad to see that they're losing the class associated with the brand and offering these options. Good job no one takes a blind bit of notice of your opinion then eh

Since we are slightly off topic into wood vs CF and all that. I've just gone from wood to leather on the doors. I'm sure there are opinions! Before... After...

Personally I thought the tan worked better with the wood, now not so sure. Did you get AM to do it to ensure the leather was matched as it does look a good job have to say.

Both are AM sourced. Surprised how much heavier the wood ones are; they feel twice as heavy as the leather caps. Car should go faster now. Imagine that with CF caps I could go even faster!

Certainly different. Don't think I have seen anything like it before. I presume you are keeping the wood on the centre panel? I guess it will age better than the wood and feel better.

Gareth - all car prices have taking a good pumping with the recent economy and fuel prices Try not to worry about it and just 'pimp' the life out the V8V. That includes more power. And that's exactly what i'm doing. L

I felt there were too many contrasting colors on the door panel because of the tan insert. Now the number of contrasting elements is reduced by 1, and it is a much better surface upon which to rest your forearm. Wood remains in the center console area. I would consider replacing it with Piano black, but the cost is simply prohibitive if replacing all 3 pieces, espcially the radio/HVAC surround.

If I didnt want a roadster, I could quite happily spend £10-15k on upgrades and keep my coupe forever ....but then when I start looking at Roadsters and consider its going to cost £20K or more just to swap to same car with no roof and little newer, I always end up adding on another £15K and thinking I will wait for a 4.7 if you are happy with a coupe, then spend some cash up upgrading, just remember do it for the enjoyment and not the "investment"

:J: said: Yet Aston make them with carbon aesthetics and they sell? If your opinion was correct, they wouldn't sell any? I am with George - and your logic sucks - just because there are lots of track suit wearers who want to buy cars to match their rapper gear does not mean they are either correct or consistent with the Aston brand.

DB9 manual with sports pack is very, very near the the DBS in term of performance, especially with 200cell catalysts, decent filters and a backbox! Add some H&R springs, of which I have a set going begging... No need to £85k for a DBS, certain DB9s do it just as well I'm with Yeti....manual DB9 with sports pack.......having driven both a 4.3 Vantage and a DB9 the big GT feels much quicker

George H said: Walnut = classy Carbon fibre = chavvy Mahogany fascias look really good in Astons with cream leather too Walnut, mahogany, any wood in a v8v is the epitome of naff. It's bad enough in anything else and reminds me of those cheap Rovers you could get in the late 80s - when racing green was all the rage. On that note green cars are disgusting also, unless it's on a classic racer/tourer.. You really have to have no taste.

George H said: I would say the exact opposite that carbon fibre has no place in an Aston Martin. Maybe for structural use, but definitely not for aesthetics! You have a green db9 Georgey - nuff said!!

I don't think green has ever gone out of fashion, especially not very dark greens. White on the other hand will go out of fashion in the very near future I suspect. White prestige cars look like they belong on a car park outside a league 2 football stadium. Metallic brown is going to be the new white I reckon, only difference is brown actually looks pretty good

As does yours Hartley. You cant be so categorical about Carbon fibre and rappers. I wear very expensive hand made suits to work and I think some of the (well thought through) cf adornments can work really well. Ive certainly seen modern cars with an "old school" look that look as naff as a pimp'd out chav-mobiles. I think it's irrelevant what colours or materials you favour - to the tasteless, or to those seeking attention (whether contemporary or conservative), you're in a car that is naff and given that, I'd prefer the anonymity of a ford mondeo any day.
