Think this looks superb. Front splitter won't be controversial in the flesh because you won't be looking at it from these photo angles, you'll be standing up. Spoiler looks exquisite. Really really impressed, think it's really cohesive and the interior is sublime.

The more I look at it, the more of a brute it looks. And I like that. The original V8 Vantage and the Vanquish both have those qualities IMO. I too am unconvinced by the carbon splitter. Maybe we could debate the effect of painting it body coloured!

I think in a more suitable colour and with a number plate on the front the spliter will be disguised. Perhaps someone could photoshop a plate onto this? pic stolen from another thread

Read a general thread about this car on PH - mainly negative, 'boring' Aston, 'left behind' blah blah.
Mainly from people who will probably never buy one. I think the look of this car is just right and the price/power pitches it well.
Looks-wise it is as sporty as an F12, performance and price like a Bentley. No one else is doing that and mixed in with the 'tailor made suit' image which makes Astons a brilliant anachronism (I.e. big power, brutal performance, but somehow smart and socially acceptable) I think this is a good thing.
Also love the new interior. A very clever update that maintains all the expensive components (instrument binnacle for example) in a much newer and still classy environment.
Aston do need to do a more powerful version but that will no doubt come. Seems this car and the DBS are as different under the skin as a 964 and 993 - and no-one complained the 993 was too much of an evolution.
Why not the front and rear splitter/spoiler; it makes the whole thing appear harder edged than a Bentley, which no doubt it is?
Having said all that, I won't be swapping my DBS manual for one.
I went to Le Mans with a guy who had a 964. Having always loved 993s, that 964 seemed just as fabulous, in fact I think I actually preferred the appearance because it was somehow more closely linked to the original.
In the end, upgrading at a cost of £100k for a 10,000 mile newer car just doesn't seem sensible.

Any hard facts about how they increased the the power output of the V12?.. I know there's been a lot of talk about VVT, has this been confirmed... Or did they steal Yeti's new exhaust

Speaking of power, I'm surprised there isn't more discussion here on the expected specs of this car. Personally, I'm disappointed that the car doesn't have more power -- it only has about 50 bhp more than its successor had nearly 10 years ago, and a lot has changed in the sports car world since then. I'm sure that Aston could have mustered at least 600 bhp. BR certainly could have. Yes, it's only a number and yes we're talking about a street car, but IMO Aston needed to provide more for its flagship car, especially when it's an "all new" Vanquish instead of just a refresh of the DBS (which I think it actually is).

It's not about the headline figure, it's about how it uses it, and by all accounts, it uses it very well

Yeah, I think Aston still need an impressive number for attracting buyers if nothing else. 565 bhp (or whatever the actual number will be) just doesn't get it done when all of your competitors (and many of those below you) offer significantly more. It'd be another story if the car was super lightweight ala Lotus, but I don't believe that to be the case.

You might be confusing Aston owners with Ferrari ones, Aston owners wear their badge on the inside and headline figures aren't normally their thing Obviously there will be exceptions, especially on PH, but in the main and from experience, headline figures and getting one up on the Jones' are not what owners look for.
