Firstly, there seem to be enough manuals around that there is nearly always a selection for sale.
You did say you were going to be controversial
I'm not sure that you can say the manuals aren't for sale. Indeed, there seems to be a regular supply, as this thread is constantly pointing them out. They just seem to turn over very quickly though, so not many on the market at any one time. But a decent supply if you wait for the right one to come along, which is more what I meant.
There are no Volantes offered currently in the dealer network. A manual DBS Coupe is easier to buy than a DBS Volante at the moment.
I don't think Volantes are being hoarded or are particularly rare in the global scheme of things Aston Martin (manual Volantes almost certainly are rare beasts though).

it doesn't look like a dramatic shortage.

So let's get this straight...1 manual for sale and one owner who might be selling......what's YOUR definition of a shortage? There are currently 9 autos (3 are Volantes) and NO manuals on AT. This is not an anomaly either. I has been this way for some time now. A manual DBS Coupe is easier to buy than a DBS Volante at the moment.

I know you traded your DBS (going up) for a Vanq 2 (going down) but you should be cheering. The rise in DBS values is underpinning Vanq 2 values.
Seems not Interesting developments, especially as the traditional slump in car prices around Xmas doesn't seem to be a factor here. Had an intriguing conversation with 2 separate dealers and they both indicated that they thought original V12V manual would also be a good long term investment, although not to the same degree as the DBS which has, like it or not, the Bond/Halo connection. I shall sit back and await progress, but if a Vanq 2 8 speed comes into reach, I may be having yet another difficult conversation with Mrs Bins.....

Never bought a car and worried about what it might be worth....I buy them to enjoy....like I'm enjoying my vanq.....and when I upgrade to the S.....I will enjoy that too.....
I didn't either matey, it just seems to happening around me. Lucky timing I guess. I assume you'll wait a while for the S?NeinFondue said:

Wish I'd kept the DBS but hey ho onwards and sideways
Could have bought a new mattress too Anyway, I hear there could be a very reasonably priced morning frost V12V coming onto the market to make room for a boxter That is if you're planning your return.
Can't believe someone would trade in a V12V for a boxter. You'll be telling me it's a white boxter next !!!!
