Just like the 458, FF and F12 then. Modern Ferraris are truly awful to look at imo, I couldn't care how great they are to drive when they're that ugly.

When you consider where the Cali is positioned, and it's track ability (for something that is so far from hardcore sports) it's quite a drubbing IMO.

Agree the Cali is ugly, along with the FF. 458 and F12 aren't though - just very different from anything Aston does.

Punctuation is key George. Not 'embarrassingly faster, just 'embarassingly, faster'.

As in I'm embarrassed for Aston Martin that their 510bhp (cough) flagship is outpaced by the boulevardier California wink

The 458 is one of the worst pieces of automotive design I've seen in many years! How can people not say it's ugly?! It's horrific, it's like they tried to stick vents, creases and carbon fibre bits all over it. I think it will age terribly, unlike the MP4-12C which is a fantastic design imo.

Never seen an F12 in the flesh so can't really comment, but the renderings don't make it look appealing to me.

Just been offered 10k less than I was expecting for my V8S roadster, against the V12VR, despite the proposed deal being that they take it late August and I don't take the V12Vr til March

Not impressed.......latest V8 prices certainly haven;t helped 2nd hand value of the S........

Sorry Mr. H, the MP4-12C is no Aston. It looks a little gormless and Lotus-esque in my humble opinion. As a British manufacturer myself I appreciate the whole Maclaren patriotic thing, don't get me wrong...

The MP4 is so boring I fall asleep looking at it. Cheapest looking way to spend £200k. If you're going to spend that much on a car, it should have some wow factor.

MP4? Bah and humbug. Boring, boring and more boring. At least the 458 has real styling. And for me, Aston over both.

When I first saw an MP4, I mistook it for a Lotus. It's not ugly but i wouldn't write him about it.

There's the makings of you looking alone here George smile

The MP4 is dull as dish water. It has McLaren's über-scientific approach all over it. The numbers must have looked on so I to production it went looking as boring as it's possible to get (almost).

The 458 has great proportions. There are some awkward bits on it, but it's sharp and aggressive. I reckon it will look even better in 10yrs' time.

Let's also see how things like residuals stack up (a good indicator of demand IMO). My guess is it will show McLaren a clean pair of heels. And Aston aren't even in the same game, let alone league, I'm afraid.

That is why I love it. Nothing unnecessary, just function over form. A great simple looking design too, it will still look great 10 years from now, the Ferrari wont imo. Too modern, and that always dates badly.

I've set a reminder for 10yrs' time to come back and demonstrate how wrong you are smile

No one remembers dreary and dull. It's the extremes you remember (and that always polarise opinion).

MP4 12C coupe is fairly plain, it's a wealthy man's GTR, just about speed rather than feel-good factor, I would have an Aventador over it.

HOWEVER, the spider version of the 12C... well that changes it all, amazing looking vehicle that akes much more sense to me. The engineering brilliance topped with a bit of mentalness and hilarity biggrin

You're forgetting the Aventador is over £100k more than the MP4-12C, which is actually more of a rival to the Gallardo. The only modern supercar I would own is the Mclaren. Nothing like those awful Nissans imo. Yes speed is a priority for Mclaren, but that's what a supercar should be about. It's also subtle (in the right colour) and useable. That's why I love it, it's just the ultimate car.

I'd still have a V8 V600 LM over it though

Cali is ugly and exceptionally feminine, as an Evoque is.

The 458 however remains the second best car I have ever driven, the first being the 2.7RS.

The 458 is fantastic, a stupendous machine, an absolte scalpel. I Would have one in a flash, but cannot..as unfortunately you look an utter tool driving one and the depreciation and runnng costs are biblical.
The V12V comes in 3rd. Classy, muscular, beautiful, powerful.....but a little heavy IMO. My only gripe.

Depreciation yes, but what running costs? I thought all new Ferrari's came with 4yrs warrenty and 7yrs free servicing included in the price? Surely thats zero running costs on a 458?
