Well, to say I'm excited would be the understatement of the year. I've been hovering around the Aston Martin forum ever since robgt was patiently waiting on delivery of his first V8V, chuckling when he hid the V8VS purchase from Molly and turned green when i saw the Garage makeover - wow what a makeover. I've seen Lady Topaz go from the wind in her hair to a couped up V12V. Marvelled at the cool disinterest Jockman shows in all things mechanical. Wondered why so many members are posting when they should be working. Enjoyed you guys solving George H's major problems, what from helping selecting a new watch to cleaning the car cover just to name a few. Wondered how cold it really gets in the UK for Mikey K to look at fitting heated seats to his non heated light weight seats. Anyway enough of this being on the outside looking in. I've taken the plunge and went out today to Sunshine Aston Martin on the Gold Coast (Queensland Australia) and bought a brand spanking new V8VS. It wasn't on a whim, i've been looking at used for a year or so now. Original idea was to buy a 4.3 but having heard robgt go on and on (not in a bad way) about how good his (and molly's) V8VS was with the new sportshiftII i was going to wait till a few of these came up on the used market. Well it never happened and i got sick of waiting, and it's only money, you're along time dead and all that stuff and went out and bought one today. Delivery is tomorrow (friday) around 1pm (14 hours from posting time and counting). Not sure how to post pics yet - link to car below. It's a pretty well specced vehicle. http://www.sunshineautomotive.com.au/search/view/a...Price equates to around 200k pounds. I know i could get a his and her pair in the UK for this amount. Thank god i haven't ordered one and have to wait 8 months for it to arrive, i think the suspense would kill me. The garage has been cleaned out, new chequered floor to go under the car has been ordered, insurance sorted. Just need to pick up a balaclava before i duck into the bank tomorrow morning to get the money. It's about 120km (75miles approx) back from the dealer tomorrow so that should give me an initial taste of things to come. The plan is to surprise my youngest son by picking him up from school in the afternoon, he doesn't know I'm buying it yet. I've been telling him for a few years now i would pick him up from school one day in an Aston Martin - and tomorrows the day! I'll post some pics and the spec as soon as i can. Tonight no sleep and tomorrow night sleep in the car. Tony

Good lad Tony.....beaute of a car and I think Mikey K is gonna love that colour. Beaute of a price too I think your son is going to suspect something when you advise him to wear a nappy to school tomorrow. What a surprise !!

I am so pleased for you. Not sure what you had before, whatever you are going to love it. The noise, the brakes , the engine . The sheer indescribable feeling that car will give you is truly something else. Really looking forward to seeing the pics. Can you include sunshine because the UK is rather devoid of Sun at the moment.

Lovely car, I love Lightning Silver. robgt said: Can you include sunshine because the UK is rather devoid of Sun at the moment. If you need cheering up watch the women's beach volleyball on the BBC website. It brightened up my afternoon, but did massively decrease productivity!

Welcome to the forum Tony - you've made a good choice of car and you're going to love it After all that lurking you know what to expect so I can see this thread is about to be de-railed by Jockman and George H - the usual suspects I would love to hear how the school run goes!

I can assure you,you won't be disappointed. Did exactly the same as you Tony ,4 weeks ago, looked and looked for ages at older ,manual cars, never even contemplated buying new, then a salesman talked me into driving the new 7 speed 's'roadster. The gear changes were awesome - bought a brand new one as soon as we returned to dealership.I have absolutely no regrets and there is nothing on the car i would change.
Get used to smiling all the time you are driving- oh,and be prepared for many visits to the petrol station, only averaging just over 10 mpg- as you say 'can't take it with you' - enjoy !
