"Swan song" is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that the Mute Swan is completely silent during its lifetime until the moment just before death, when it sings one beautiful song. Well, my baby has gone...genuine I am scribing this, my epitaph really for the many friends we have met on this forum, so perhaps of no interest to others. Why have I gone from AM ? I have owned two Vantages, my V8 roadster and my wonderful V12 Then life takes a swerve, and suddenly priorities change. Tony, my other half had a health wake up call, too many years of cigs and booze, probably. Nothing too serious, but enough to give us food for thought. Our daughter, who had been told that due to certain medical issues couldn't conceive announced she is pregnant and we will be proud grandparents in January. She will need our support, private med isn't cheap. We have it, she doesn't. For 4 years we have been looking for a 2nd home in Greece. Found one this year, but sods law an email yesterday says this isn't going to happen. C'est la vie. We never keep our cars more than two years, so it was always on the cards that we would change soon. The new models are now out of our range, so where do you go from a V12V ?, one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. We looked at the market and saw prices had improved a lot since this time last year, but as more new models were announced, we anticipated that current cars might take a hit. In spite of firm prices on PH classifieds, we rung around and were offered stupid prices around £80,000. We persisted and received a dealer offer that would have been mad to turn down. I daresay you will see my baby advertised soon. ( Its a great buy for anyone looking and I am happy to chat to anyone interested). To soften the blow we took my car up to Raymond Blancs Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons. A bit Groundhog day as my V8 pics are from there also. Pics in a minute, but I would like to say thanks to all on this forum for holding my hand in initial ownership. Too many to mention, but we have made some lifelong friends (though I didn't know Liam was selling). You know who you are and we will stay in touch. Sooooo... Au revoir mes ami's. For now!!!! When things settle, in the words of Arnie... I'll be back! So many edits cos my puter is fecked but love you all and see some of you soon I'm sure Di xxxxxxx

A sad day for Aston indeed to lose one of its members. I loved how you enjoyed the last days of ownership though - very House-esque.

Di, Sorry to hear the V12V is off to another home, but you really did enjoy your time with her and Ray's was a fitting Swan-song. I hope an even better Greek pad awaits, and all the very best for your daughter's little-one and Tony's health. G

Di,
All the very best to you, Tony and your family.
Sounds like you have some exciting times ahead with a grandchild on the way. You've been one of the great characters on this forum (albeit quiet of late!) and as one door closes, another opens - you've owned and driven two cars that many will only ever dream of.
Hope to see you back soon
Kris

I'm sure this is a Vera Lynn moment Di - 'we'll meet again'. Just imagine the fun you're going to have 'Granny' and when the time comes the fun you will have choosing your new Aston. I'm sure Works Service can do ISOFIX in a DBS. Love to you both Andrew & Mhairi

Di, Tony, mes amis, thanks for all your advice and guidance over the last 18 months. Most of all, many thanks for your humanity !! People mistake this for a car forum - wrong, a car has never posted - when it is really about the Drivers and their lives. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us all, and I know your future is going to be a happy one. I am available for any future God-parenting duties etc given sufficient notice. Ciao Bella, you will have an email shortly

Di We never actually met All that I would like to say has already been said far more eloquently than I can. You will be missed. Your balanced, humane and Jockman bashing script no more Truly; all the best for happy times
