Looks awesome Nick, well done.

I know it's just a trick of the light, but this pic does look like you have a grass-patterned centre console... biggrin

Probably Jude Law - we get mixed up all the time... laugh

Was on my to VFestival on Fri afternoon and am still recovering. Ticked off "See The Stone Roses live" from my Bucket List. They're looking their age though frown

You seem to spend more time in Soho than Leics at the moment biggrin

If you look closely Adam you will notice that Nick also has one of those £80 homo pads for his delicate elbow thumbup

Ah yes, remember you mentioning it last week. Did you take Mrs Nick (not my place to refer to her with the same nickname as you do!) to the D&D for a swift half of Mad Goose and Jaeger Bomb aperitif? smile

Robuchon has been on Romi and mine's posh restaurant list for while (it's gets added to quicker than it goes down, alas), so good to have a recommendation. I've just realised I walk past it every day when I go from my office to my ad agency in Covent Garden!

For the record I have to say that yer man Paddy detailed my car at the weekend and there wasn't a gazebo in sight, I believe he wishes he still had one though cos it was flippin' hot and there's no shade outside my gaff...

colour's luuuurvly, wouldn't be happy with the stitching on that door card though, is it all like that?
Nope. It only seems to be the door cards that are not absolutely perfect. TBH though this was done by hand as opposed to a computer operated sewing machine. I guess that is the differnce between what it cost me and what WS would like to have charged me. Hand made stuff hey rolleyes
good that it's not all over smile shame though as you can still use a cardboard template to sew round on a hand machine, the stitching is as much a feature as the leather so you'd think they'd try and match what their machine has created.

like you say, some differences are expected for a 1/4 of the price, but as a company it's an area I'd be looking at imroving, £200 extra for 1/2 days special attention with a template? gota be worth it, to both parties.
Nick,

Interior looks lovely, but I did notice a couple of stitching issues. I wasn't going to comment on them to be polite, but now that it's been brought up by someone else:

Yes, the stitching is uneven so the lines waiver a little on the door cards. Keep in mind that the ones from the factory are also done by hand and not some computerized sewing machine, so sewing in a straight line is possible.

Further though, I noticed that the stitch length is quite a bit shorter than the factory stitch. Having just recently stitched and done my own interior in navy blue alcantara, I noticed that the factory stitch length seems to be about 6mm. The longest that my sewing machine will do is 4mm. I have another machine that will do 5mm, but is not as strong so will not go through thicker fabrics.

I also learned to help the sewing machine by slightly "pushing" the alcantara through the machine. In my early efforts, I realized I was holding the fabric too tightly and so I was fighting the feed dogs that pull the fabric through. By doing that, you get uneven length stitches, which seems to be what happened on your door cards. I have the same issue on my door cards if you look at the diamond quilting closely and thought about redoing them. Luckily my better-half intervened and reminded me that most people will not be as critical when they see the final result; especially when the realize that I did the work myself. In your case, the 75% savings trumps any miniscule imperfections as these.

The other thing I noticed was that there seems to be much more dense padding in the factory seat panels. In the picture with the embroidered DBS logo you can see just how much more the stitching is burried into the foam.

Regardless of all this critique, I still think your new interior looks awesome and is a great improvement over the suicide black. Congrats on being brave enough. I'm sure your experience will inspire others to take the plunge.

You must be joking KF !!

What with all that uneven stitching and lack of padding, I shall now be spending my money on curries and loose women biggrin
