I should be coming down from the NW as well, and figure on night stop-over in Kent area would suit, but happy to go with whatever anyone else is doing....probably wouldn't mind a meal and a couple of beer that night though after all those miles..;)

Really looking forward to this already (thanks Wollie for organising!!) as it'll be the spring wake-up for the car (like getting a new one every year woohoo) and a nice long drive with something really great at the other end with good company...
It should be a great trip. If you like the engineering in cars then that in watches is a marvel of micro mechanics. The constant running of a watch movement is likened to running a car engine continuously at top speed. Incredible, especially when you consider the service intervals are around every five years.

a very interesting hotel 50 minutes from Calais Euro Tunnel Terminal
Extra night away from home will not go down well at home - and I doubt I'd ask for it TBH. I tend to get to Folkestone late and just sleep -> shower -> drive.
I'm with you and David. If I aim to get to Ashford for 8pm, I can leave at 3ish so miss little work and still have time to eat & sleep properly

If I get the eurotunnel the day before, it's either get to the hotel in France around midnight (9pm eurotunnel get's in at 10.30 pm french time) or take the whole of the day before off

It's no more than 400 miles to Beaune on day 1

Molly and I are really excited about this trip. V8 Woolie, thank you very much for organising it. My daughter is getting married a few weeks before we go so the trip will cheer me up. I suppose I will be gaining a son though!!
My pleasure. I have three daughters and, judging by the young chap with whom my eldest seem to be enamoured, I am not relishing the thought of gaining three sons!!

I have the Amvox but even if I didn't and you wanted a special piece I'd go for the iconic Reverso. It epitomises everything about JLC and its history.
Made an offer on the Reverso - Grand Taille GMT (8 days) in stainless. Let's see what happens...

The AMVOX is just so big on me frown

Which one?
This 'un - http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/GB/en/luxury-watch...

Looking forward to it, but it means another must go in its place... Probably my IWC Portuguese, I don't wear it and this replaces it rather neatly.

IWC Portuguese Rattrapante anyone?

I like the Master Compressor... quite a hankering for one of these at the moment - http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/GB/en/luxury-watch...

Still, want to get one of these by early next year - http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/GB/en/luxury-watch...

A work of art of course, but just doesn't do it for me as a JLC. For a divers watch... it is always the Submariner/SeaDweller or the DeepSea for me. The original amd the best.

Now that is a stunning piece and has all the elegance that a Jaeger-LeCoultre should have!

Normally I'd agree with the Rolex choice.. but I saw one of these in black with a black and yellow strap. I'll be honest, I didn't think I'd like it, but it was fantastic to look at. The yellow on the inside of the strap and the stitching just made it look brilliant, really different and stood out whilst being quite subtle. There will definitely be a space in my collection for one in a few years cool

That is pretty special... However for around the same cash, I'd have the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Chrono - that's my 40th birthday present in a couple of years to myself. Maybe smile

Two good choices. Personally I'd go for the Fifty Fathoms too but maybe because I have the EWC and the JLC Navy Seals is too close in style.
