another reason to buy an Aston

Whilst a lot of what he says has some truth to it, he has written and said so many vitriolic things over the years - sometimes based on factors people have no control over - that it's hardly surprising that he will get abuse. AA Gill, whom he mentions, made a point of insulting Norman Wisdom after he died, yet I don't see him condemning that.
I see hypocrisy being as large a problem as anything, i.e. it's okay if I'm saying something potentially offensive as it's 'entertainment' but when the shoe is on the other foot one has to take to the soapbox and make a sweeping statement about the state of society based on a few individuals.

AA Gill is not immune to saying daft things simply for effect either - have you read him reviewing a Northern restaurant !

However, it does exist and you'd be foolish to think the car grants you immunity from life's dheads
No question - other people's perception of car brands never ceases to amaze me. I've had cr*p in my audis (A5 then A7) several times, despite both being black and not blinged up in anyway whatsoever deliberately to try to be relatively anonymous Alex said:
It's basically the same attitude that forms Labour and LibDem party policy, "You've got something nice, we're going to take it from you and give it to a lazy, workshy scrote."
Yup, having read through the article yesterday on the Lib Dems thoughts for VED replacement, many of the comments were claiming that £23k is peanuts to people who can afford Astons, who cares about the filthy rich etc. there were other comments made condemning the idea as well, but mainly because they could see the effect on the wider car industry. It's a shame the Lib Dems anda Labour don't realise that society isn't neatly polarised into rich and poor, but is a broad spectrum. Many people aspire to a top car and can just about afford to buy and run one. Extra taxation puts it beyond their reach and the result is an even greater gap in society. And the same holds true across the car range, whether you are aspiring to an Aston, a Merc, a Ford, or even just to own a car in the first place!
Had an interesting experience on the Fosse yesterday, travelling south of Leicester. White van in front of me, quite tight stretch. White Van man spots me in his rear view mirror, indicates left, slows, I overtake he puts his arm out the window giving me a " thumbs up" sign and toots his horn. Could only happen in a Astom I think. So Clarkson has it right then, there is something deep inside many of our driving fraternity that just loves Aston's I guess. Quite a responsibility for those who are lucky enough to drive these fine motor cars.

Totally agree with this. This to me is everything that is wrong with country and society today. We have created an environment where there is no longer any incentive for people to excel, perform, innovate!

I was driving with the roof down one lovely evening and 4 gorgeous women jumped out into the road in front of me and pulled their boobs out. Or did I dream that?
Happens to me all the time when I'm in the real (old) Vanquish! I even have to drive past Phil’s house fast to save any embarrassment.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
