That was my understanding too.
Although Steve Copley's review contains, "It betters even the One-77 at a fraction of the price."
If he has not driven it, that's serious bullstting.
As far as I'm aware, the only journos to have actually driven the One-77 are from Top Gear magazine, where they drove the one at Al-Ain Class in Dubai. Cropley has had a passenger ride in one, officially. He may have driven one and not been able to report on it, we don't really know.Although Steve Copley's review contains, "It betters even the One-77 at a fraction of the price."

Where have you heard this from Yeti? I can't find anything about it.
I honestly can't remember where I read it... It could just be a journalistic assumption as ZF have that 8spd unit ready to be installed? It's logical is Aston can do a deal on it... The 8th speed would be motorway cruise only, so really it's 7 driving gears. It'd be easy to get lost though It's difficult to judge it in red or yellow as I've never really warmed to red cars.
However first impressions are I have to say I still prefer the DBS, from most angles.
I definitely don't like the new rear.
A dbs is probably not as good in ride quality, or dynamically, and definitely will not be as fast as a new vanquish, but you don't buy Astons cos they are the best cars or the fastest ones.
You buy them for looks and noise first.
Well I do anyway, and the brutish looking DBS still rocks my visual world, as it has ever since I first saw it.

A review will also be in tomorrow's Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/car-manufactur...
In short, verdict: One of the best-looking Astons on the old VH platform. Carbon-fibre bodywork does little for weight saving or stiffness, however, and at 1.7 tons this sporting coupé is a tad porky. Performance is more than adequate and the ride is good, but this apogee of Astons needs more sparkle as well as a manual gearbox or an eight-speed auto.
Telegraph rating: Four out of five stars

A decent, if not glowing, review.
Frankly, at list price, I feel that this car is going to struggle.
Which is a real shame.

Im actually unsure about the new vanquish, yeh it looks good and drives well, but so did the dbs...the big issue with me is its supposed to be a successor to the dbs, much the same as that was to the old vanquish...yet aston martin manage to make the thing slower than the dbs and old vanquish in terms of top speed, 183mph vs 192mph in dbs and 199mph in old vanquish.
Its only 0.1s quicker to 60mph than the dbs as well. If it were me I would buy a used dbs for £60,000 and save myself £130,000!

Was at Newport Pagnell a couple of weeks back and saw the car in the metal. In the green I saw (Not my favourite) it was much more striking than the DBS's around it, more muscular, better stance, a step on.Made the DBS look like a bodykitted DB9. ..... Which it is IMHO.
I've been cool to the Vanquish, but in this color it really does look fabulous (even the funky looking front splitter looks more palatable). Green with black accents always looks right.

We've already done this. The new Vanquish only has the TT2 automatic. The DBS and Vanquish S speeds you mention were both with manual gearboxes, albeit robotic in the Vanq. It has the same top speed as the DBS auto as it has the same box and I guess diff ratios.
