Fabulous looking V12R - but:
That hood is just not up to date any longer. Comparing the two edges going along the roofline with Porsche's new magnesium based folding roof that emulates the lines of the coupe roof is today's state of the art and Aston is just not there. The V12V coupe is one of the pretties designs around because of the sweeping roofline and short tail and with that roof all this is lost on the convertible. Missed opportunity or lack of development resources for a 160k car.
Convertibles rarely look better roof up than the Coupe equivalent . Roof down - now I know I'm biased - there's no better looking car full stop ! Unlike the Porsche ,which I agree is dynamically on a different level , you have two things in the V12R that you won't get from the German car - exclusivity and the best V12 sound on this planet! You need to talk to Mr Marek the AM Design Director That hood is just not up to date any longer. Many roadsters retain a cloth roof to keep the weight down and the center of gravity low.
Ironcically the Boxster Spider roof is even more out of date
BTW Aston have never been "state of the Art"
looks stunning
again, really pleased that it seems most V12VRs will be much mroe individually finished than the typical vantage
the contrast, hood down, of the upholstery/body colour in particular look great
I'm not entirely sure the black surrounds to the light clusters work as well (for my personal preference) on this car as on some combinations I've seen on here but then again, it could be argued the lights would look wrong with the CF infill if they don't have the black surround

Well there's no doubt that hood up, the car loses some of the beauty & aggression of the coupe's shape. Having said that, whilst hood up looks are important, it's not nearly as important as hood down looks. That hood is just not up to date any longer. I'd never take the 911 system over this - hood down, from the exposed hood acting as a sort of tonneau cover (which is clever but not aesthetically pleasing) to the mix of materials & finishes, to the shape which hood down creates a really fat, bulbous backside, I don't think the 911 is nearly as pleasing to the eye hood dwon as the vantage
Furthermore, hood down, the vantage has those lovely leather humps which can create some great contrasts and because of their slanted nature, are meant to draw the eye/mind to the idea of continuing their line up towards what would be the roof of the coupe
Just had my first 100kms in Agent #002 !!
Okay, I already had my suspicions...
... but I can now confirm that the V12 Vantage Roadster really *is* the ultimate Aston Martin :-)
What a car ... the looks, the noise, the acceleration, the noise, the handling... and did I mention THE V12 NOISE?
... and all that in an open car ... just perfect.
I really like what they did to the suspension. Not as stiff as the V12V coupe, slightly more comfortable.

Congratulations Alwin. You are happy then? I thought the same about the Roadster I test drive at the dealership. Seems more comfortable but still seems to have excellent traction. I also thought there was less drivetrain whine and more V12 growl. If you had to choose between the Coupe or the Roadster which one? Okay, I already had my suspicions...

Congrats on the new wheels Alwin...its looks superb. Interesting comments on the suspension. Cockernee said just the same after He did a bank job had a road test
I agree, I had less wheelspin on the getaway. I mean pull away definately better rear suspension rates that need putting on my Coupe...Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
