VMV (vapour management valve) – it’s the valve that controls the flow of fuel vapours, collected in the carbon canisters, into the inlet manifold. All part of the EVAP (evaporative emission control system).

The other references on the drawing are:
1- Oil separators
2- PCV valves
3- Check Valve
4- Relief Valve

Any chance of a sketch on how you’re going to re-route the system? I drew this one in Excel.

Well, according to this schematic, oil on the filter side must be the result of faulty check valves (3), isn't it? The check valves are there to allow air flow only one way...into the engine. Shouldn't you only have to replace the check valves, then?

I'm suffering with this issue now. Took my filters out and they looked oily, had a rub on the intake next to the MAF and it was oily so one can assume I have very early signs of this issue.

Whats the best route to go for me to fix this? Whip the manifold off and replace these one way duck valves or pcv valves whatever they're called? Or install this catch tank thing?

Im a little lost where everyone is piping in their catch tanks though, some help via images would be great, I found these.

the complete kit is bunch of pipes which include all valves. Retails for about £300, plus gaskets. Problem will be fixed and no need for separate catch tank kit

if you want, post up pic of your filters pls do and i can see is normal oiling or is worthy of fix,

Thanks.

They look exactly the same as the OP

I removed the airbox and rubbed my finger in the boot below the maf and there was some oil dribbling down my glove. No other oil anywhere inside the filter, or air ducts or anything.

sorry to say and as you guessed, needs the corrective action of new pipe kit

if that fix is the way you want to go, it is the best, do you know all parts you need?

Im guessing its just all the vacuum pipes and the 2 pcv valves in the 2nd picture I put on?

What actually fails here?

Sump, If you haven't already got a pair, I have 2 x air filters sitting in the garage which are redundant to me as I long ago sold the car. Yours for the cost of postage.

If Sump doesn't need them, I'll take them (and make a charitable donation, if you won't take anything for them).

Just worked out that the dealer doesn't change air filters on a 60k service frown

Cheers - Simon

V8 Vantages have this same problem but it's MUCH easier to fix on those than DB9s. I'm hoping to get my hands on a DB9 to do some testing, but it's one of many, many things I've got on my plate right now so I don't know how quickly I can get it sorted.

i have seen your V8 catch tank install and looks very neat.

A similar config on V12 will be tricky because of needing 2 tanks per side (due to pre and post throttle) with 2 ports per tank

Yeah, definitely far more difficult on a V12-engine car!

This is the PCV kit you need, remember you need 2.
