Like I've said In previous posts I'm happy to sort something if we go from Donnington or around the Peak district but I don't know the roads further south or west.

I think the fact that we are all coming from different parts of the country will make a combined run a bit of a challenge. How about we all meet at one place, Heritage seems to be the most popular so far, at an agreed time. That way we can all make our own way there or meet up with other locals for a convoy to the meet. We can then park up and weather permitting have an ogle at each others cars and a look round the venue.

We did this in Feb this year at Brooklands and it seems to work well.

If people are in agreement I am happy to contact Heritage, or Donnington or wherever we choose to sort out parking, entrance discount etc

views?

I thought the idea was a bunch of Astons going for a drive rather than museum visit. At least it was when I proposed it.

Sorry can't do this time, found out it's same day as annual roast pheasant breakfast washed down with copious quantities of claret followed by good walk spoiled to win a Goose - that does a bit sound weird and a poor second to a blast around the Peak actually. Didn't mean any offence Steve, what tickled me is that this thread is just like a pub planning meeting, you start with firm decisions to make then 4 pints later you've talked about all sorts, decided nothing, but had a good laugh. smile.

PS Bet I'm not the only one on here to have been Google Earthing various local routes only to realise what a difficult and good job Mikey, Rob and Molly, and Mike did last year. Not given up yet though - build it and they will come....

Sorry Simon, I'm not trying to take charge and if that's what everyone wants then I'm happy to tag along. I just thought we had been discussing meeting for a drive out for the past few days.

It's been a few days and no one else has thrown their hat in the ring so I'll go ahead and sort a route.

My initial thoughts are meet at donington services at 9.30ish which means no one who has already put their name down should have to leave before 7am to get there.

We could then drive (EDIT) ....on a route it's best not to publish........

I'll keep the route off the main roads as much as possible so it should be fairly quiet on a Sunday morning, especially the week before Christmas.

The route is approx 3-4 hours depending on road conditions/weather. There are some nice pubs around donington if anyone wanted to stay for lunch or we could finish with a drink.

So who's still in? driving

Good on you for organising Steve.

Was lurking on this one but, like JamesC, Donnington's a bit far me as a London-dweller.

Looks like a good route, so enjoy chaps.

Sorry you can't make it guys would a later start help? Donington is not as far north as you think, only 2 - 2.5 hours from south coast. Dover or Portsmouth take me 3 hours and I'm 40 mins further up the M1. M1/m25 junction is 2 hours for me (unless I hit traffic) so approx 1.5 for you on Sunday.

I had been asking on fb (a 'hidden' hooning page - acessible by invitation only) and have just had someone suggest a route (55miles) from Aylesbury area up to Gaydon. I have a link for it so will hold onto it for use on a similar short informal run out, ending at the Gaydon museum, maybe early part of next year smile
