Thruxton was good when I went. I got to drive a Porche under tuition for about 20 minutes, followed by 3 laps in an Aston and then 3 laps in a single seater open top. I had a great day, I could have chosen a Lambo or Ferrari, but who would want to drive that when an Aston is on offer? I had a precircuit briefing and coffee etc, plus photos, it was an all round good day. I loved it. I think the Lambo was more expensive to drive than the rest, but it was a £200k V12.

12 months later I owned a 9 ............

I did one of those driverdreamdays (present from the g/f) and I enjoyed it. Okay, only 3 laps in a V8V and 3 in a DB9 V12, but it planted the seed. I don't know about other's restrictions, but I was egged-on to give it plenty and I did. You can also get the experience video taped (from inside looking at you and the track, PIP kinda thing - but an extra £30. Being the typical tourist I bought it smile.

Got 9 laps of Silverstone in a Vantage next year, yup, another pressie! Hmmm, go on it before or after I get a Vantage of my own?

I can vouch for 6th Gear / Simonspider.

I've done 2 of his "Best of the Best" packages (Aston DBS, Ferrari 599 and Lambo LP640)

Really great days. So long as you demostrate to the insturtors that your not some knuckle dragging ape just there for a joy ride they pretty much let you off the leash.

If your a good clean / smooth driver I've found often the instructor do sit back and throw in bits of advise telling you how to go faster, rather than "Change gear" "brake here".

Really really great events, I'm actually just booking my 3rd event for next year

After deliberation with my daughter she has opted for the Supercar Triple Blast with Simon at 6thgearexperiences.

I think she will have a lot of fun. As I mentioned in another thread she was taught by one of the instructors that teaches the Met Police driving instructors. She has also passed her Pass Plus and Advanced Driving tests so she is a pretty good driver and can certainly handle a car. Be interesting to see how she handles the Lambo and Ferrari smile

Just to add my bit, my brother is a track day instructor and I'm pretty sure if you get someone like him she's going to have a great time. I'm told that Simon organises some great days out, in fact a friend of mine has just booked me in on one of his experiences although I haven't actually booked a date yet.
