Old Story I presume - shoud I put paint protection on or not
Discussion
I guess it depends on your prior experience. I will prefer Paintshield in Peterborough who have done 3 cars for me now. They are not the cheapest, but for me the best. I have two concours wins on my last one and just got them to do a full front end kit on my V12V.
Yes, you can paint them once they chip but it depends on how keen you are on appearance. I can't stand the chips getting worse and worse before I would give in and paint it.
Have a look at Paintshields website and look at what they do to the film. It self repairs. I certainly would not let them even demonstrate that on my car.

No connection with them other than as a satisfied customer and them being nice people to do business with. Might also depend on where you live, but I made a journey a little over an hour for them. They can also collected the car in a covered trailer by arrangement.

Whats the rough cost of having the protection on the front end (and possible rear arch area?) of a V8V? Seems a sound investment to me.
Also, can anyone advise what I should be paying (roughly) to have the front end sprayed to remove stone chips (not particularly heavy but I like it perfect!)?
Thanks

I did pay quite a bit more than is quoted here for the film on mine. But I had full front end back to the A pillars, all the sill, replace the 'sharks fin' which the factory put on up to the waistline as well as a matt film on the inner sill panels to stop the scratching often seen there.
Wax can be on the film edge, can be removed by gently using a wooden toothpick in a few areas and by use of a detailing spray. Try not too put too much wax on in the first place and there is less of a problem. I used g-techniq EXO sealant on my V8 instead and that worked well. Their wheel sealer is far better in my opinion, but the EXO is easy to apply in the warmer weather ( it has to be at 20 degrees for application). It was lasting longer than waxing as well. It has no effect on the film and there is no residue to worry about. The film itself is frankly now almost invisible.
Francis did the detailing and application for me, although I subsequently did the SLK 55 with it and it still works fine.
