Well, here's my ignorant take on it.

An Aston in any of these colours will look fantastic, particularly if it is clean and polished. Tungsten is on the face of it a rather ordinary metallic grey colour, standard grey Aston, which, like Jaguar Vapour Grey, has its moments. It is a browny colour. Hammerhead is more of a grey sharkskin. Meteorite is my preference, because it is sharp, dark, and has hints of red. Goes well with an Iron Ore interior and red calipers.

If you want a classic colour that will hold its residual better have no imagination, go for Black with Black interior.
Fixed that for you smile
Wait a minute, wait a minute ....... eek

I've just looked at your profile, your green car is the blackest black car I have seen. You sure it's green ?

For anyone wanting a pre-owned black car, there are certainly plenty to choose from.

At present, there are 79 V8 Vantages for sale at main dealers.

35% OF THEM ARE BLACK.

And according to MaverickV12, EVERY one of them is worth a fortune yes

Meteorite and tungsten are both metallic, Hammerhead looks more like a pearlescent colour, so it's less glittery, but varies more with different light conditions.

Hammerhead was the V12V launch colour and was only available on other models at extra cost, so it's the rarest of the three.

Thanks guys. Very much appreciate all your comments. I will be looking at a few in person this weekend. That link to all the colors is great!!

I am thinking either meteorite or hammerhead... I am meaning towards the darker, more understated meteorite... That's the one that is more understated, correct?

George was hankering after "hardly green". Seems like he may have got it.

Blame my awful photography skills and equipment for that!

Michael, as per my recent posting on my V12V Register topic:-

"Silver - 141 (Hammerhead 29, Lightning 20, Meteorite 19, Quantum 38, Titanium 7, Tungsten 15, unknown 13)"

So it's looking like Hammerhead is second favorite from this sample, although the 13 unknown could have an impact on the current results.

If you want grey, my personal favourite is still most definitely Quantum Silver (which is a grey, not a silver !). Well actually my favourite is ceramic grey but that's only be done on DBS special edition until very recently.

If you want silver, my personal favourite is lightning silver

But I'm not really sure how any of us can help - my personal preference is just that and you're the one buying it - I'm not sure you can do anything other than look at cars in each colour and decide what your preference is

What I can tell you is that it's nigh on impossible to justice to any of these colours without seeing them in the flesh so try to get to a couple of dealer showrooms where you should be able to view most of these colours close-up to help make the decision

Hammerhead is very popular on the V12V, but it was an extra £500 on the V8V so it had few takers. Overall on Vantages it is one of the rarer greys

My vote is hammerhead in the sunshine, tungsten when it's gloomy. Where do you live?

I'm in sunny California... I took a look at all the colors in person. Not all were vantages... Some rapides and DBS... Overall, I liked meteorite most, it looked the most understated... Just worried it gets dirty easy... Unlike the silvers and tungsten.

You won't go wrong with any of those colours (or should that be colors state-side smile) come re-sale, Meteorite does look rather flat when dirty but great when clean. Its popularity has stood the test of time, in fact Aston used that colour in their Vantage launch brochure, so that must say something wink

The trend has been away from Silver to the darker colours (Quantum, Meteorite, Black etc) but silver looks clean all the time and the cars look great in Tungsten, Titanium and Lightning.... the new Skyfall Silver is a light colour so maybe we are heading back full circle... bottom line is choose what YOU like the best (although Quantum, Hammerhead, Casino are harder to find due to cost when new) but if you hate cleaning the car go light silver biggrin!

Or green. I had just driven to Monaco, a few days of rain and dirty roads and then back to Epernay for this photos. If you'd happened to brush against the car, it would have been filthy smile
