Magazine leads with the full works on an arab registered 1-77 this month .....

and.....

Absolutely love it, full 5 stars and euphoric words.

So the question is, were Aston being clever to add to the mystique by denying access to the press (knowing it was inevitable in the end) or lacking in confidence?

Surely a range of fantastic press reports does nothing but good for the brands reputation.

Why exactly would they need to get glowing reviews for a car that is sold out and they aren't going to make any more of? Makes more sense not to let the press drive one imo.

You obviously didn't read the Top Gear article when they drove it.

IMHO, 'Press Reports' on a £1.2M car would never improve a brands reputation.

It is a halo car, a showcase for the marque.

I don't know what the development budget is for the car , more than the 92m revenue they generated in sales , less the cost of making each one, I'd hope.In order for it to be worthwhile doing it needs to produce benefits either financially or in terms of brand goodwill.

I think its great that the car is so good. I honestly believe that Aston have fine engineers and are capable of great things.

My point was, in attempting to prevent the press from driving them what are Aston trying to achieve. If its good then let people drive them and tell others.

I didn't see Top Gears report, it's not a mag I read. Was that an official car?

Top Gear hated the transmission. Said it completely ruined the experience of an otherwise special car.

Mentioned in EVO too but considered acceptable in light of the rest of the experience. They also liked its potential for unruliness.

I read both TG and evo articles and am a little surprised as to why evo gave 5 stars to a £1.2M road car with low speed manouverability problems.

Unbelievable if you buy at such a price level, and don't get a decent (ie Manual or dual-clutch!) transmission! It is not "just a thing", it is one of the most important items in a car, that you will notice every minute, every time you drive it!

Wonder if they could not go in there and replace the SSM with a good old stick like they did for Vanquish.

Also a buyer's guide on V12 Astons, featuring input from our very own Neil (F1 NDW) and John (Cockernee)!

Nice by-line mentions for BR and Nicholas Mee too.

The photography of the One-77 is just stunning.

Lewis, it's green and filthy dirty - I think it may be your dream car.

Just read it too Adam & noticed another of our chaps, Steve (897SMA) gets quoted too (about the DB7 GT he had before his DB9 Volante) smile

Never mind Phil, they will approach you for your pipe and slippers expertise when they do the buyers guide for the DB9.

Ahem, young Amanda, I think you will find I am the King of Chipex.

I also taught Mikey K everything he knows about washing an Aston properly yes

I also hold the record for the biggest bar bill at our meet ups - and I didn't even drink.

I know more about Cake than anybody else, thanks to Cockernee.

Most importantly....my driving techniques, skills and speed are the most talked about at any event we hold.

What more does a short, fat blue, kilted man have to do to gain the recognition he so rightly deserves confused

I also hold the record for the biggest bar bill at our meet ups - and I didn't even drink as I'm not really a scot at all

I know more about Cake than anybody else, thanks to Cockernee who encouraged me to start dealing (I suppose that makes him my pimp)

Most importantly....my driving techniques, skills and speed are the most talked about at any event we hold but for all the wrong reasons

I note you didn't correct the Short, fat bit !!!!!

TBH, when I went for a runout with Mikey K, Quinny and Ash last year in North Wales, the lads did mention the Evo Triangle and to my chagrin I actually thought they were alluding to an erogenous zone rolleyes

That's it. The mystique has been well and truly blown & I shall never be able to think of the EVO Triangle in a grown-up car related way again rofl
