Just posted on another thread about my old blue car. It seems to me most on here really love the non black, grey, silver etc colours. Do the dealers need to rethink when pre ordering. Has the emerging Chinese market been a wake up call???

This from a bloke who owns three black cars getmecoat

I think that people like the idea of other coulours, but not when it comes to taking the plunge.

I think my views are well known but personally, black, silver, grey cars... And cars with back interiors, don't feature one tiny bit in my buying preferences.....

Unfortunately for me, this greatly reduces my options.... But that's the way it issmile

Love black Luna but as is well documented on here my "mod" has been the red insert interior which makes mine special to me.

That said I'm already looking at various other colours for the next one

The dealers convince buyers that anything apart from grey will kill the resale value, then they order grey because its the colour they can sell.

If you want non-grey it has to be a special order, because all the cars in stock are grey, so you get no discount, I.e. it costs 10k+ more to order any other colour, so you choose grey and prove to the dealer that he was right to order grey

The whole grey thing is a self-confirming dealer construction.

But, have to say that some greys do look good wink

Colour is a really personal thing. I have seen some really ridiculous colour combos that have no doubt been spec'd up by someone who had more money than sense.

My philosophy is always plan for the divorce and this means sensible colour combos.

I know it's boring but black interior with piano black trim is safe and you will sell it. Not long ago I saw a DB9 with bright red dash - looked a real mess.

AM give an infinite choice of combo and that can actually hurt the resale IMO.

Must say though, the wood dash does look nice!

I'll have to say that our dealer positively encouraged us to buy something different.
I'm pretty sure they subsequently ordered a V8V in the same colour as a demo.
Just looking back the "outside range" paint cost us an extra £995 over standard.
It certainly seems that the V12VR has changed the rule book for colours. Hooray to that.

I too like black... Think it looks great... Very menacing..yes But trying to keep it looking that way...requires lots of hard work.. Which I recently found out, I'm allergic tobiggrin

smokin

I'm having one of the sets of fairings for my new R1 painted in BRG with orange highlights cool

And another set in black and fluorescent yellow for when I feel a bit more adventurous!

Am being brave too - white 17" alloys, white mirror caps and white roof with old english style graphics - hoping its going to be a cool looking 'retro' style runabout for work.

Sounds good! I'd have gone for orange graphics personally. BRM colours cool

All the dealers I visited told me that new owners buy the 'safe' silver/grey/black options as they are worried about the resale values, whilst second owners are looking for something more adventurous.

Was certainly the case for me, where my first choice would have been Mako blue/ red interior..

Do I even need to add my two penneth..? wink

Resale grey with suicide black on an Aston is like resale red on a Ferrari with crema - it's what the market expects, rightly or wrongly.

Coupled with the fact that grey paint does actually look good! But I'm sorry, a black interior when there are infinite and tasteful coloured leathers out there is frankly not on.

It makes the car look like a Toyota Camry.
