I got some Apple cables and here what I found with the IPhone 5.
The UBS cable charges the phone but the "USB" not recognized. Perhaps if you had MP3 music on it may do something but no access to your "music".
The 30 pin to Lightening connector adaptor charges and plays your music as an IPod would.
The phone connects through Bluetooth at the same time.
The car is a 2012 V8V S.
