It doesn't. Dealer may use factory discount on V12V stock cars to build up a 0% finance deal I understand but nothing on R.

WOW! In fairness thats only a £5000 discount and 0% finance - but still I can see this starting a new thread of V12VR upset about residual value worries already!

Watch this space - I wouldnt be surprised if that advert gets taken down in the next few days!

Quoted here for posterity... smile

I hope so Graham. I still find it astonishing that such a stunning car has failed to sell out in its entirety. I suppose because of the stupid discounting on new cars it just puts people off. Even on something soooo rare

Agreed - theve only built 40 RHD cars so whats the point of upsetting existing owners when theres hardly any stock? If there is stock why not talk to existing V8/DB9 owners about upgrading and overvalue the px instead of discounting. Theres no need - Springs round the corner. I'm not aware however of any Stratsone depot that has unsold cars !! The ad is wrong anyway - its not the most powerful Aston Martin engine !!

Must admit its pi55sed me off - not because of the discount ( that's nothing compared to what I got off my V12V) but the fact is its so uneccesary. Total build 101 cars - most UK cars are sold have ( specced by owners ) - few cars left unsold with Spring around the corner. Oh lets discount them - damage the brand value - destroy the pricing policy on limited run cars and pi55 the majority of Uk V12R owners off who are in the main very protective and supportive of the brand !! I had a fair cost to change on my car and enjoyed the process immensley and am a very proud owner of a fabulous unique motor car, built to my specification ,for me. Wonder how much I would get off a V12Zag ?? Must admit never saw discounting on V12Rs coming if true .

When I saw that I was about to give them a call... then realised I don't have the 60 grand deposit. No deposit and a grand a month interest free... I'd do that smile

Yeah the finance deal made me chuckle too....

Headline: Interest Free! - ONLY £999 per month for 24months!

Smallprint: Oh, and did we mention the £60k deposit and the £65k ballon payment at the end!

Scary figures indeed. I'd hope that the car would remain well above the final balloon payment but Aston saying "oh yeah, we're making another 100 specials" would soon put paid to that.

There may be some V12VR's around but not very many. My local dealer had an enquiry in December from someone who had seen a V12VR awaiting delivery and decided he wanted to trade in his V12V for one. He didn't want the Flame Orange car they had (you might remember that from another thread wink ) but it took them 3 weeks of searching to find him the car which he bought. He has just collected it. That says to me there are not that many out there to find.

They can show whatever offers they want but I do wonder if they have any cars they can source or whether it is just to draw you in with a view to persuading you to buy some other model with a tasty big discount. I am not sure a £5k discount would do it for me because part of the pleasure of buying the car was to get it to my spec.

Agree with Graham that it is stupidity really - come the Spring they will all be gone. As for residuals it doesn't really matter unless you want to sell and of the 5 V12VR owners that I know none are short termers.

You are forgetting the finance offers as well. Its fairly recent HWM have offered finance - they always asumed if you lived in that locality you were far too rich to bother with finance.
They were offering finance in 2007...

Problem with these "deals" is that they are inevitably only on list prices. Which doesn't make them massively attractive at all.

As for the V12VR, are they genuinely that scarce? I doubt it myself...

I think the 60k deposit bit is meant to represent your current car as trade in.

The adverts seem targetted at current owners and is probably just an attempt to make them upgrade.

If your current car is worth less than 60k then no problem, they just adjust the monthly premium.

It's merely a spreadsheet with a bit of colour smile

Agree 100%, but I have never taken finance on a car and hope never to. Continuously paying for a depreciating asset would hurt, whereas once its bought, it disappears into another reality... Simple man-maths, we're all different smile

I'd consider finance for an E-Type though, unlikely to drop scratchchin

It depends how patient you are. Do you buy the car now and pay a little bit more, or do you save up for a few years first. I'm very impatient.

Plus you could argue all the money you spend on modifying could be considered a waste if you ever planed on selling - I.e the cost of the mods wouldn't be reflected in the sales price smile

It's quite a clever deal

Your car plus an affordable balance
£1k a month for 24 months
Then a large balloon that will encourage to take the next deal at the time PXing the car rather than pay it wink

Yes, BUT - with a £65k outstanding balance you will probably find yourself with no equity and therefore no deposit for the next deal! frown

I must admit... had my DB9 not been the car it is with the upcoming work it is having, I would probably go for it, asuming they would give me 50k or so trade in (probably more like 35k though). The 24 montrhs I would then spend saving for the balloon payment.

As you say, clever deal as many of us have a car worth 60k or close to... For that money I would want to spec the car though... California Sage or RSW Green with saddle leather smile And then some BR manifolds and cats!

I agree with that fully - it's how you do your man maths! I would rather the cheaper car up front than borrow, hence buying the DB9 cash instead of borrowing for a DBS...

DBS Volantes really do hold their money though... all the money I have spent and will spend on my DB9 Volante to make it 650bhp, different interior, exterior trim, suspension, brakes and so on will still cost less than a DBS Volante.

Can't see the V12VR being worth only 65k in 3 years time. Good thing there aren't any V12VR to actually buy, or I'd be tempted. 0% finance, even Mr Gould would approve!
