I always remember being told many years ago of a quote from someone who 'knew' that "there is no substitution for cc's".
Sorry Tony, there is, It's called a turbo! AM's new engine will be 4ltr twin turbo circa 500BHPI assume you already have one on order then Rob and the necessary upgrades to engine and clutch are already ordered too
Bit of an update
Did a trip in it earlier in the month across France.
It was set up with newer versions of the BR headers (more torque), large area 200 cel cats (less pressure drop) and a 4.3 rear box (to tone the noise down a bit). Base tune and no twin throttles yet.
It's a real Jekyll and Hyde.
Sport button off, roof up it is a really quiet hyper speed GT. We did 950 miles in one day no issues.
Drop the roof and hit the sport button it is ballistic! It just pulls right up to the extended 7.6k rpm redline (might be possible to up that a bit) so it is very difficult to "be in the wrong gear"
The combination of the reworked gearbox (a lot smoother and quieter) and lightened flywheel/clutch package make the paddle shifts MUCH smoother both up and down. It even makes using D viable (only in Sport though!) The pops and bangs on down shifts are intoxicating and actually encourages you to change gear more.
He's now back at Bamford Rose having some more tweaks on the engine internals before we move on to the twin throttles.
Also found the Michelin PSS's to be fantastic, more comfortable, less tyre noise, more wet AND dry grip than the RE050's Aston fit.
Now to try and find some wider lighter alloys that don't detract from the "style"

Curious to know.....how are you enjoying the 5.0 gt4 monster still?Did a trip in it earlier in the month across France.

hi Mikey,
thanks for the update. Out of curiousity, whats the last stage of development?
Still plan on implementing twin throttle bodies or at least an injection improvement, or more?
Curious to know as I've started to discuss engine conversions with Mike the past week and your view and experience is highly appreciated.
Keep us posted!

Would V12V wheels fit straight on? Or even better, the lightweight V12VS wheels?Did a trip in it earlier in the month across France.

Brakke - He's back with Mike & Adrian finishing off V1.2 of the engine. Making some engine mods that come from the Jag 5.0 evolution (which is related to the Aston block). Mechanical twin throttles proved not ideal at idle and low revs so they are working on electronic twin throttles. All part of being the guinea pig
Roughrider - as I understand it the V12 wheels can be made to fit, but I'm not a fan of them. I think I've found a set of lighter forged wheels which are wider on the back than the V12 ones

Someone has to be the guinea pig!
Regarding the wheels: im investigating the options of reducing the unsprung weight of the wheels (to offset the increase of a big brake kit).
Have you had the big brake kit installed as well? iF so, is going down to 18 inch an option? EDIT: i think i know those wheels....

Mikey......why not just put in a 5.0 litre jag engine..?.....are they not the same engine in essences?
I stand by to be corrected.....
The 5.0GT4 block is actually similarI stand by to be corrected.....
Top end is very different and of course the jag engine is not dry sumped
I guess in theory it is possible but I'm not knowledgeable enough to even contemplate getting the electronics to work!
Mikey, you really should change the name of this thread....not coming is it....in fact it's come...gone back, ....still back.....it must be frustrating having a great car , trying to make it better for it to sit in someone else's garage.....

Johnny was always a test car for this conversion I knew that and I'm comfortable
V2 of the block is being built up as we type.
