Nope, doesn't mean I've vacated the closet, what it does mean is that the car is back from Lancaster post service, it's sunny, and I'm out!! Anybody else taken the opportunity for the first time in a while? No talk of lay bys please....(Steve, Nick et al) biggrin

I took mine out yesterday for 20-30 miles just to keep the battery in good order and stop things seizing up.

Get out there, it's lovely. Still a bit snowy on my road but outside of that its great. Great, great fun. So nice to be back in it (cue the abuse about not driving in tosh weather...)

I am ITCHING to take that cover off - it will be 2 weeks tomorrow....but I'm going to be patient as as I know the snow will be gone tonight with the rain.

The Strand you say, isn't that in that there London village...?

Nick, RR to the Cross? Shame. Wait 24 hrs and I'll meet you for a sharpener? Can always do a Sunday, generally.

I'm out smile I think people are wondering why I've been through the Hatfield tunnel three times in 30 minutes.

I've been out today and done the route for April (virtually on Street view laugh )
Had some more snow here last night
That and the amount of salt still on the roads it is a nono (Salt + Aluminium = eek )
Itching to go for a decent run though! driving

Just been out to Guildford and back for a wee drive from Mac towers. Enjoyed it immensely. Tomorrow will give it the first wash polish and wax of the year, weather permitting too.

I've been out! But since I couldn't even get the S3 onto the drive after being pulled out of the snow by a Range Rover... I decided to go sledging instead. With beer.

Not much sledging was done.

Interesting. There are a number of technical papers that discuss the corrosive resistance of aluminium and in many they conclude that salt does not cause corrosion due to the bonding properties of the surface oxidation of bare aluminium. They do discuss that galvanic corrosion is far more likely to cause problems.

I would assume there is very little 'bare' aluminium in an Aston, in that any that is exposed to road salt will have some form of coating. That said, because the oxidation on the surface of aluminium is bonded to the surface it is quite good at protecting the underlying metal. The opposite of rusting where the rust flakes off exposing new metal to rust again and eventually eroding away completely.

I was out, now back in.

Took the car into Nicholas Mee, which basically involves me crossing Tower Bridge from South to North and following the Thames all the way to just past Hammersmith.

Didn't get over 40mph, but had a few traffic light drag races with a hot girl in a 997 GTS. The sun was out, the roof was down and all was well with the world.

Then I decided to run home, which turned out to be a half marathon (21.1km) so am now somewhat spent.

Had the usual poke around the box of AM delights that Nick Mee's workshop is. Amongst the usual drool worthy classics the most interesting was a MF DB9 and Lightning N400 that they're basically rebuilding after they were submerged in the Thai floods of last year!

And keep an eye on their website next weekend as they have something pretty special coming in... wink

Took ours out today. Followed Molly's 11 year old Vitara to Bamford Rose. Loads of snow and ice around here. Last couple of miles things were looking a bit better so she had a little stick. Had a little fun on the M50 overtaking Molly then slowing right down then doing it again. There was a chap in a cavalier who thought that it was great fun . It was because it was so good to be out in my Aston again.

Car is now residing at BR awaiting some serious surgery. Mike is very confidence inspiring because he knows his Astons. I have now a 3 week wait to see what magic he can weave. Frankly I cannot wait!

To one and all I wish you well , we have a great year ahead of us.

Bunch of girls, Rosie 3 - Snow 1

The M54 last night was actually terrifying; managed to get the car back to my mates place mostly drifting the last 15 miles. She's been dug out 3 times today but got me to within a mile of my parents, she's now abandoned. Its fair to say I've not worked on the 350z this weekend.....
