Just went from the Galaxy S to a Galaxy S3. The original phone connected to the Vantage by bluetooth no problem and I could see the full address book and last 10 calls in the display when pressing the phone button on dashboard or steering wheel.

The latest phone, Galaxy S3, does connect to the car by bluetooth as a telephone and I see the little icon appear in the infotainment display. However, it doesn't seem to transfer the address book over, even after going into the menu and selecting transfer address book from phone to car. ( it does say address book being transferred in the background).

Anybody else using this telephone, or can suggest if I am missing something simple in the settings? The AM website on compatible phones doesn't mention the S3 so presumably it needs updating to bring in later phones.

Hmm, connection worked first time for me when I changed to S3, but I don't make calls from the car very often, esp as I've always found the address book hard to use from the centre console.

One thing I've noticed, if I forget to switch the phone's bluetooth on before starting the car, once bluetooth is on I go to Phone, then the Galaxy S3 is listed so I press Enter, and then the display says "Synchronising...", which I don't see on normal startup. Maybe that forces it to sync.

Update for anybody else thinking of buying the Galaxy S3 or any other android phone with Jelly Bean version of Android on it. the phone will connect to the AM car and allows calls to be made and received, and the last 10 calls dialled out are transfered over to the car. However, the phone address book will not synchronise to the car automatically - it will if you do it manually but of course the phone book in the car empties when the ignition is switched off.

A look through the android forums suggests this is an issue with the jelly bean version of android ( latest version on the phone 4.12) rather then the car. Other people and makes of car are experiencing the same problem.

Bloody nuisance but at least it's not the cars fault apparently!

Anybody comes across this thread and discovers a work around then I'd be grateful for a PM or bounce the thread.

Cheers, Steve.
