Sold it and bought a 911. But still pops back from time to time to tell us all how st Astons are.
Well not exactly true, I have bought other cars subsequent to the sale of the Aston some months ago- after my tenure with the vehicle i have experienced most of the problems one is likely to face, however, what has that got to do with the problem the poster enquired about.Edited by 355f on Sunday 17th March 17:45

Indeed.Edited by 355f on Sunday 17th March 17:45
When you say 'most' of the problems.......were you ever side-swiped by a pink corsa driven by a pink girl with a pink dog sitting next to her?
Moreover, it's been a good 12 months since you critiqued the marque

355f - Hello, I'm still interested to find out how you got rid of the problem? Did you sell the car with the problem? Or did you just keep OBD'ing the codes? Or did the o2 sensor change sort the problem, or another issue?
Hi there, at the time I was told by a main dealer not to bother with the issue, as it made no difference to the performance of the car and the 'mapping is a bit tight' so that in certain situations it will create an Emissions system error. The emission control was changed to stop this in the V8S.As the car was just out of warranty, I went to derby motor services who told me the same as the main dealer, but somewhat frustrated ordered the relevent so called faulty o2 sensor and for good measure the downward post cat 02 as well.
After 8 miles the warning came on again, the wiring was checked and ECU examined but no fault seemed to be evident other than the same code for the RHD bank o2 sensor.
I ordered a code reader and cancelled the codes myself, they would return now and again. Providing your getting the same fault code each time I would buy a code reader and cancel the code yourself. Spending a lot on the parts and dignosis did not fix the problem for me.
I got this warning last night along with engine light, but the cars performance also dropped off dramatically. So does this reduced performance go hand in hand with the warning? And if so do I simply reset by using an OBD reader or does the reduced power indicate something else and mean it should go to a dealer?

The warning light is there for a reason. With mine it was a failed coil.I had a re-occurring error on one of the upstream O2 sensors...I would reset it and 1000 miles later (or sooner) it was back on. Anyway, bought a £70 sensor off fleabay and replaced....all fine since
...then recently had a different error on different sensor, this time the P0133 one as per this thread. reset it about 1000miles ago and not again since so will see how it goes
the £30 OBDII reader i got off ebay about 7 years ago has paid for itself many times

So I email the local main dealer at 8.30am who I tell I would like car back by Friday if possible, inferring that they should maybe hurry their responses up so we don't lose valuable time. At 9.00am they ask me what colour the light is on the dash, I respond quickly and next at 3.05pm,(after a chasing email at 2.45pm) they tell me they are fully booked until next Tuesday. I don't get it, didn't they know this at 9.00am?
So I dropped Mike at Bamford Rose an email, simply asking if he had any advice to help me ascertain the nature of the problem and to ask if I could get a local garage maybe to put it right or whether it needed putting on a trailer to the dealer to collect dust for a week. Mike is coming round first thing to run some diagnostics. He says he is in the area, but the other call he is making is further from me than the dealer is.
I am not knocking the dealer really, they are a large franchise with probably a whole load of defined processes that slow things up. But I just thought I would put a word in for Bamford Rose considering comments of late. This the reason some speak highly of them, not only do they do good work but they go the extra mile, have done each time I have dealt with them.
Disclaimer. Bamford Rose is in my area and I am sure other independent garages in different areas are just as helpful.
If anyone is interested I will update you with the Mike's findings and the eventual outcome of any work done.

So good as gold Martin turned up bright and early and connected up his kit.
Apparently we can deduce my OBDII is naff as it had shown no faults! Martin's kit found plenty.
He believes the fault is with the accelerator pedal which has two potentiometers which should always give inverse readings to each other to make sure the car does not leap forward if the the pedal thought I was asking for more power than I had actually depressed the pedal to obtain. It looks like the required maths the system should have expected did not come back and as a precaution it decided to shut down one bank of pistons.
He reset the system and the bank was immediately shut down again so its not a one off glitch, it seems like a permanent pedal failure.
So what are the chances of getting a new pedal at this time, what with the recall in full swing? I have alerted the local dealer to the findings and asked he get a pedal in stock for the car's arrival. We'll see what their response is. Unfortunately this is a warranty claim otherwise Mike has one spare he could fit. If I get the run around for lack of spares by the dealer I may yet go back to him.

They should be over run with old pedals even if they don't have a new one. Its a temporary fix but better than nothing.
If you saw wheeler dealers last night they worked on a Massa 3200GT and that had a similar problem among many others, the potentiometers were about £400 from memory. I'd not come across the issue before and then 2 in 24 hours

It's not a new pedal.
Mike from BR tells me dealers cannot get hold of enough pedals to meet customer demand for the recall let alone for my broken one. Still waiting for dealer to tell when they can get one in before I give them the car.
I did see the Masarati last night on wheeler dealers. Timely.
Mike did suggest dealer could whip one off a stock car to get me going for the bank holiday. I can but try.
