I think the Vantage looks great in white, but had only seen later cars in this colour, so they were unfortunately way out of my budget.

However, two 'one-off' white early (2006) Vantages have just appeared in the classifieds within 24 hrs of each other! Does this colour, as at least one of the ads implies, justify a premium over other colours? Is it thought to be a desirable colour or is it just me? I would be curious to hear anyone elses opinions on the two cars currently available.

On a seperate issue, and having kept a close eye on the classifieds for some time now, I keep being surprised at the amount of private sales I see that are trying to get Main Dealer (or even higher) money for their cars. I wonder if this is just a case of wishful thinking.

There are actually several whites, some more expensive than others. Morning Frost White is a £5k option at new, but I doubt any of them command a premium on the used car market as its all down to personal choice.

I think white cars in general will start to appear more and more on the used car market, I think their popularity will fade in the next couple of years.

It's the colour de jour for all the chavvy footballer types.... I'd avoid it as I think it will go out of fashion soon and you will lose more money on a recession white car than any other colour.

Also they look awful imo smile

When pale silver went out of fashion, all cars in that colour were selling for lower prices, anything in that colour looked like a pre-2006 car, so people wrapped them or in some cases had them resprayed. White was a very popular choice, it had then become a very new and fashionable colour.

A resprayed one, if done well, should be fine, but if its wrapped, that isn't a permanent thing, so expect to have to have it re-wrapped at some point.

As usual George is wrong, and anything he doesn't like Is "Chavy"rolleyes
I'd suggest you buy whatever colour you like the best, but don't pay a premium.

The only premium I'd pay would be on condition. Ie if everything about the car was pretty much spot on, and it was exactly what I was looking for.

Both the chaps selling the white cars have done excellent adverts, if I were after one. I'd go and see both and buy the one I liked best smile

hehe

I like the color of your S3 but you are right about white, it is a color that would go out of fashion very quickly. I nearly bought a v8v in frost white but any marks/dirt/tar would of drove me insane as it would be clearly visible!

Having owned a black 911, a black V8V and a Meteroite V8V before the current car I can honestly say that MFW is easily the best colour hiding dirt and staying looking clean the longest out of all of these.

As for going out of fashion the above comments are only valid for somebody who intends to keep a car for 10 years+. Car colour fashions don't change overnight and certainly not "very quickly". I for one buy and sell cars far more frequently than fashions change for it to matter within the timeline of my ownership.

Interesting points. Do you have MFW now? I think the earlier v8v's in white don't look as good perhaps it's a different color and not sure about silver alloys either prefer black ones.

The V12V in white looks stunning IMO. However, I'm not so sure about the early V8V, and I think it's the alloys that don't quite set it off. Be interesting to see them with a set of Sport Pack V1 wheels on. Mind you, they make anything look good.....

Daft question - is it easy / obvious to tell whether a car has been (professionally) wrapped as opposed to being, for example, white straight from the factory?

Also, good to see that if liking white makes me a chav - i'm not alone

Yes, a wrapped car will feel usually different to the touch as at the end of the day is a plastic coating over the top of the real paint. Also check inside door sills, boot sills, the underside of the bonnet and bulkheads under the bonnet as all of these will be sprayed in the original colour and are highly unlikely to have been wrapped too. Door sills might be wrapped, but id bet 99.9% of the time the rest of these are not.

Dont worry about George's chav comments, after a while here you too will learn to ignore the majority of the drivel that comes out of his mouth!
