I had the inner doors and sills done, sold the car now with the wrap on it,was on over a year and I was very happy with it only problem is when you get stone chips as it shows the darker grey underneath but I A'm not joking when I say I used Tipex as a touch up so when the wrap comes off it will just wash off.

Carbon, white paint and black wheels are all chavvy! They're the sort of thing that I'd expect to see on some Essex tart's Range Rover sport, or on a BMW driven by a drug dealer...

Neither an 'Essex tart' in a RRS nor a BMW-driving drug dealer are chavs though smile

'Chavvie' is a term for a kid, or it possibly means 'council house and violent', either way, a Vantage with black wheels and white cannot be, in good conscience, be described as chavvy.

How is carbon fibre, a material 'chavvy'?

Because it's not really used structurally when it is a diffuser than does absolutely nothing, or wing mirror covers etc. It's used for aesthetics and that's what I despise.

Oh, and the fact that carbon (or carbon effect wraps) are usually found on chavvy cars - Corsas, Saxos etc smile

One of those white ones for sale is mine. For what it's worth, here's my 2p on the value thing:

1. It's supply and demand. This changes with fashion. White is more popular now than it was in 2006, so the ratio alters a bit. For those who want a white one, the price will be a bit higher, as there are far fewer to choose from. I'm sure at some point in the future bad-kebab brown will suddenly make a resurgence, and this will alter things again.

2. It probably affects how "liquid" your car is on the market more than the actual price. If there are 80 for sale in varying shades of grey and 2 in white, and an equal number of people wanting each colour, the white ones should be easier to sell. Obviously personal opinion on whether white looks amazing/terrible, though

Personally, I fell in love with Morning Frost White, and the fact it didn't look like every other Vantage out there, and was willing to pay a premium for this. Some people won't care about the colour. Some people will dislike it. But it's all personal preference - what you want to own and cherish and love, unless you're trying to buy it as a profit-making depreciating asset(!)

I just didn't want to pull up alongside a white one some day and think "God, for a few hundred pounds more, I could have had the car I REALLY wanted".

The only reason I've priced mine a teency bit higher than the cheapest ones at that mileage is the options list, the £3k+ on upgrades, the £500 of spare tyres I'm including with it, the fact it's just had new brakes and tyres already, the respray to grt rid of stone chips, and so on.

I think a lot of the ones that don't "stand out" from the crowd and are at an equivalent price to each other may sit around unsold for quite some time.

I'd definitely buy on condition, care, and attention above all else, though. A badly looked after car is going to cause far more unhappy moments to the next owner than a different shade of paint!

Just my 2p, though. smile

For me colour choice is partly determined by how I use the car. I think if the car is to be used just for pleasure and something to do on a Sunday morning other than playing golf, then it's fine to be brave with colours. I tend to leave the greys/ blacks/silvers for my daily drives - that way the Aston feels even more special come the weekend when its time for a blast.

I think morning frost is stunning, especially on a V12 vantage when it's broken up by the bonnet vents/splitters/diffusers, etc.

Is this the target of your 'holding deposit'?

The V12 looks stunning - maybe I can dream of upgrading in a few years!

JS - I'm certainly interested; I'll try giving you a call tomorrow.

Apologies - been deliberately quiet; I don't like to pimp a car out on here when I'm selling. Forums / Sales - ne'er the twain shall meet. smile

Now it's sold... The phone rang off the hook. I only booked in one viewing at a time, and told everyone else to wait until they'd been, and didn't entertain any offers.

Had one person come to see who just didn't like/want the white; Marmite colour/opinion (understandable)! Second person placed a deposit on it unseen, sold at asking price, not a qualm. Had a couple of other people offer me over-asking to let them get first-dibs on it instead, and a lot of others VERY keen to see it. Judging from email/phone demeanor and previous cars I've sold, I reckon there were ~8 people who'd have paid within £750 of asking price, and 4-5 who'd have paid the price or more.

So, car gone, money in bank, everyone happy. (Except me - REALLY did not want to sell if there was any other option. *sulk* Will look into buying her back in the future)

I'll stand by my long-held view:
  • When there are ~100 silver/grey cars on the market, pretty much the only way to make yours the one to buy is to make it the absolute cheapest to buy, unless it's something particularly special
  • When there are ~2 of your colour car on the market, just set a fair price
Officially the best 'proper' car I've ever owned. Hmph.

That picture doesn't do the white colour justice. Is the 'Rolls Royce White', which has some sparkle in it??

The pearlescent whites tend to reflect whatever is above them as much as the general colour of the light... so on a bright, blue-skied day, MFW looks to have a light-blue tinge. One a grey, dull day it looks a bit dull and grey. And indoors, with beigey colours around... Hmmmm.

Let alone who would drive for 6 hours from Southampton to nr. Manchester on a Friday afternoon when there is torrential rain and fog for most of the journey....

Now to be fair, and as I let the seller know, I thought the car looked great, and I do like white cars, but the colour didn't quite have the 'Wow' factor for me that I thought it might (I had a 6 hour journey home to dwell on this). On viewing other cars the following day at the main dealer in Sevenoaks, I came to the conclusion that I preffered the Artic white to Morning Frost. No doubt I will be boring and end up with a Tungsten car....

However, it was a cracking car in all respects, it sounded fantastic, went superbly and was very well priced (MFW just wasn't quite for me). I'm very happy for the seller that it was so easy to sell.

Really hope you found the perfect car, chief. And without having to trek around the country too much more. smile Fingers crossed the trek back wasn't quite so painful, too.

MFW definitely doesn't look its shiniest, glitziest best under a grim, brooding, near twilight sky! Or when I've not had a chance to put a layer or two of wax on it. paperbag

Unfortunately the M6 was still chocka when I rejoined due to previous weather related accidents... I was so shattered I had to pull over for an hours snooze around Milton Keynes and got home gone midnight.

With the interest in your car, it does appear your theory on white / silver cars is correct! Hopefully you will be back in an Aston before too long.

I will continue to see what comes up. I'm in no great rush, and as i'm fulfilling a dream I have had for almost 10-years, I may as well make sure I have absolutely no regrets about what I end up with.
