I'm suprised the Aston is a write off though. What would you be looking at to repair it?..a door, sill, chassis alignment and a rear quarter panel and maybe a front wing..
It may or may not be. Depends upon the damage done to the chasis tub which is primarily glued aluminium components. As a high performance sports car, I would be certainly insisting to my insurance companyv that it is a write-off as one could not guarentee safety within its design envelope if some of the adhesion of the tub panels were compromised. There would also be the re-categorisation of insurance class - which would essentially make the vehicle worthless as a whole.

May be some bagain bits in Aston Martin Bits dotcom soon.

Good luck with all that.

I've seen numerous people saying this now, and I do get why the repair is important. But assuming one insists the work is done by Aston Martin, I really don't people can get their knickers in such a twist? Lots of cars are repaired and put back on the road...

To change the category (assuming we're talking Cat-D here) according to the guidelines (https://www.mycarcheck.com/help/recorded-accident-damage/) the damage has to be a significant value of the car - so we must be talking 50%+ Shirley? Say £50k in repairs? I'd be pretty surprised if it gets to this stage? I mean, expensive repair or not - a write off looks like the reaction of an alarmist.

(Apologies if I have misinterpreted insurance regulations - don't shoot if I have!!!)

The issue is the AM VH platform is not like "lots of cars"
It is a licensed version of the high temperature epoxy/aluminium bonding Lotus use.

If there is any issues with the "tub" it is more likely to be the aluminium has gone rather than the bonding, as suffered by Lotus's.
AM are the only ones that could attempt to repair a tub and I suspect in most cases it's simpler to either replace it completely (if the cars value is high enough) or write it off (if cost of repair is high enough).
AM parts are VERY expensive.
There was a V12V owner on here who had a slow speed collision with a wall and the front bumper/light/wing. That "small ding" cost well over £20k, so writing off a ~£100k DBS would not be that hard wink

What ever happens I hope he gets his P&J back and the pink bint learns some sort of lesson (which I doubt if she can argue bathing a kitten in food dye is acceptable rolleyes )

In a rare defense of George, I doubt he would. She has modified her car.

Best chat up line ever.

Me: 'How much does a polar bear weigh?'
Her: 'No idea'
Me: 'Just enough to break the ice, I'm George'

biggrin

That's certainly up there. The best one I ever saw used was when my mate went up to two girls and said 'fancy a dance?', to which one replied yes. His reply to which was 'right, fk off then while I talk to your mate'.

Didn't go down well but I thought it was brilliant!

You obviously have a great deal of experience in rejection!

What chat up line did you use for Karen? 'Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?' smile

I have had some success approaching a very attractive lady and a "planer" friend by offering to buy the very attractive one a drink if she'll bugger off and let me talk to her mate....

This is veering off topic. Powerfully build....goatee....sports car....red bull....

£20k for a ding?! Blimey! Probably not worth skimping when it comes round to insurance renewal time!!!

Agree though - hope he gets it back soon. Looks epic in black!
