This guy is on about changing oil every 3000 miles
You're going to disappear up your own backside if you're going to get into reading all the BS put out by oil companies about their products...Ask 10 people what is the best oil,and you'll get 10 different answers...
My policy is to select the right specification and grade, select a good brand, and stick with it
Hi
The standard choice for a DB9 is the Mobil 1 0w-40, it's not any other Mobil 1 product as the engine wants to run on a SAE40 oil, not the Mobil brand. I wouldn't say it's necessarily the best oil for the car, but it's the best option from Mobil. As far as a SAE40 goes, it's quite thin and tends to burn off at a fairly high rate in a lot of cars.
As it doesn't really get cold enough in the UK to need a 0w oil, I would be looking at a 5w-40

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. Those ones are ester based, so the absolute top level of oils on the market. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.
Cheers

Hi
Sort of. With short trips, it's not easy on the oil as it doesn't heat up properly, so any condensation or fuel in the oil may not get burned off. That means that if your mileage per year is pretty low, but you've used the car fairly often, the oil should be replaced. In some cases, like weekend toys where it may be left for a while, then thrashed for a few hours before being left again, you can leave the oil in a bit longer (depending on the oil used).
Cheers

Sister in law and husband just flew over to leSport Bodyholiday in St Lucia yesterday (we recommended it last year to them), for a 'free' 10 days, due to the fact they messed up their accommodation on their last visit.
They will be sitting there now putting on their suntan OIL
Dommage
