Perhaps this is a situation where ignorance is bliss.

Within reason, indicated mileage has little to do with the reliability or longevity of the car, much more is dependant upon who has owned it previously and how they've driven and maintaned it rather than if they've shaved a few miles off it. I have a couple of vehicles with well over 170k miles on them and they run fine.

I've tended to go for high mileage cars because I've sometimes not trusted the advertised mileage on cars for sale or because I've been worried about all the work/cost that's possibly in store for me. l find high milers are generally honest cars that have been well cared for and therefore very reliable. All the creases and issues are also ironed out at somebody else's cost. I pay A LOT less for them which makes me a winner. My last Aston was a db9v, I bought it with 50k miles and when I traded her in last week (with almost 60k miles)I had only lost about 2k over almost a year. The car was über reliable, never skipped a beat and felt, smelt and looked much newer than younger lower mileage db9s that I've seen. .

I've just bought a ferrari f430 with 40k on the clock. Again, an honest mileage IMO. I've saved about 15k on the price of one with half the miles but I'm getting 100% of the ferrari experience, complete with 2 yrs main dealer warranty. . Ill probably trade her in, in a couple of years from now and lose very little.

So how has it been so far? Have you had any dry weather yet to open it up? Must be basically awesome yes

Hey Yeti. Meant to reply to this ages ago! Had a little good weather so had it out and opened her up. Completely different car to both my db9v and my v8v. Everything is completely different. The F430 is everything that I wasn't getting in my Astons. It's loud, brash, immensely aggressive and feels like the world is apart to end when you give it the beans. They're so incomparable that I would ideally like to buy back my DB9 and keep her for when I want a more civilised blast with my daughter in the back! I get soooo much more attention in the Fez - it's on a differnt level to the Astons. People used to ask what Aston I drove, when you say you drive a Ferrari, that's usually enough - the badge and the presence it delivers is something else. In a departure to what people seem to think of Ferrari drivers, it's not the driver that becomes a twit on the road, it's everybody else. Other drivers assume you're a cock and proactively behave like a cock towards you even before you've had a chance to be a cock - very unfair given how considerate I am. You're confronted by various categories of people - car nuts enthuse over it, many others pretend to ignore you whilst others might comment on just how much money its costing me in fuel. All in all though I'm absolutely loving it. The rumble and sounds is truly epic and not like anything I've experienced before. I would not swap it for any of my old cars, but as I said I would like my DB9 back for when I can do without all the drama.
