Evening all,

Saw a nice black Rapide watching Johnny English Reborn DVD this afternoon and the front grille inspired me to do a little photoshop to the standard vantage bumper (pre 2012) ... what do you think of this?

I think it distracts a little from the traditional Aston Martin grille.

I like it a lot, have considered it myself!

Once the Rapide S is released, I will be getting the large grille, having my bumper cut out and have it installed. Adds a certain air of menace when seen in a rear view mirror smile

So if we take the grille from the 2013 Rapide S:

and graft it onto a V8 Vantage by joing the upper and lower bumper openings together, this is what you get:

Certainly different, and not unlike the V12 Zagatto:

IMO the 2013 grille actually looks better than the Zagatto, but slightly oversized if you just join the existing grilles together. It certainly adds presence, but loses a lot of the graceful beauty of the original design.

Another option is to do what Audi do and just paint the bar on the bumper matt black to visually link the two openings. That still gives you somewhare to mount the number plate:

So had a play on my own car. All you need to acheive the effect is a couple of the grille bars, some of the support bars and some matt black vinyl wrap. wink

Can't wait for George's comments. Lets guess what he might say whistle

I suppose it may turn out to be one of those design changes that work out in the end. Much like the Audi grille that just seemed wrong at the time but now I cant imagine one without it.

But I cant help comparing to James May laughing when I see the new Rapide S.

Ford, cough......

The last set of shots are go goppingly ugly. I feel the current shape/design has ran its course and its time for a complete new direction.

Saw the Rapide S at Grange last week. The grill really looks great but then is ruined by sticking a number plate on it. There is nowhere else to put the plate so it kinds of ruins the effect. Beautiful looking four door car though.

Possibly it is one of those "in the flesh" it looks better moments? But the one above with the swirled out number plate really reminds me of the Heinz label.

Certainly a little familar.

Don't worry I have no intention of actually doing this to my own car, just a play on Photoshop to see what it would look like.

Oi Rich.....You want my opinion ???

1. You are too young to own an Aston (circa 12 when I last saw you).
2. Keep Italians away from Astons.
3. The bigger the grille the more it reminds me of a Chrysler.
4. You better not support Southampton FC.

Well, you did ask smile

T'will indeed be a cold day in hell when I take your opinion seriously on anything other than the quality of barmaids rolleyes

By the way, the Vanquish lights are going on WITH the Rapide-type (or custom made) grille. I shall enjoy your tears of despair smile

You should have seen the Irish lass on emirates then! Probably a 7/10 but her accent probably boosted that to a 9 cloud9

And she was nice and kept giving me 2/3 Heinikens at a time! I hope she's on the flight to KL!
