Chaps,

With my main dealer quoting me £900 to supply and fit a pair of rear tyres (and refusing to fit tyres not supplied by them), am looking elsewhere. Blackcircles do Bridgestone Potenza in a 285/35 (I'm going up from the 275 on there currently) for just under £550 per pair supplied, but don't trust the likes of Quickfit - any ideas? I'm in the Guildford area.

Must admit I'm surprised Aston won't fit supplied tyres - never had a problem with Porsche main dealers on this matter prior.

Cheers!

James.

Odd that the dealer won't fit tyres for you. Had both rears replaced on mine for just over £600 by the dealer a couple of months ago. I don't live in Surrey so can't help you find a place to go.

Had my own supplied tyres fitted (on my SL55) by Chessington tyres in Guildford which were good - £12.50 a tyre I think at the time

They've supplied and fitted tyres a couple of times. Good place, understand Astons. even keep tyres in stock - had to used them on a Saturday afternoon due to a puncture but still a good price.

Most won't fit tyres they haven't supplied, nor will they repair punctures
OP that Blackcircles prices seems way too cheap, are they the correct AM9 (or whatever it is now) fitment?
Try Event Tyres always been competitive for me.
BTW JCT in Leeds fitted two rears to your spec on my S for £600 all in.

They're not the AM specific tyres, just standard Potenza. I've always been under the impression that these 'made for specific car' tyres is just an excuse for the dealer and tyre manufacturer to make more money! My Ducati dealer told me not to bother with the 'Ducati' Pirelli Corsa's on my 1199 and go with standard Corsa's, my GT3RS had AO48's on etc - I think it's all a load of crap TBH. I'm open to correction though!

It might well be a load of crap; but sometimes insurance requires you have the correct tyres fitted AFAIK. Anything that allows them to wriggle isn't worth the risk. Or you could just inform them I suppose!

Not my experaince of Potenza RE050's on my Astons or Honda S2000's (7 cars in total)
Two different tyres, I believe things like tread pattern and wall stiffness vary

IMO I wouldn't take the risk, get the dealer to price match the lowest AM9 supplier you can find.

I can't believe dealer prices when it comes to changing tyres. I guess they are aimed at the very wealthy that wouldn't mind paying the difference for 'peace of mind' or those that want to maintain their car at a single place.

I ordered two 275 AM9 rears for my DB9 from camskill.co.uk for £449 delivered - a trip to Atomic Wheels in Milton Keynes and both were fitted before a full Hunter fast-road realignment done for ~£150. Had I not have done the realignment, I'd have been looking at £500 for the pair fitted.

Shop around kids.

So I've just returned from Chessington Tyres £559 lighter, and sitting back at my desk occurred to me that I didn't compare the fitted tyres to the old ones. The new ones state code 96Y, can anyone verify this is the right code for the Potenza AM09 specific tyres? I'm clearly far too trusting that it didn't occur to me at the time...
