Don't get me wrong Gibbon....I never took them up on the offer.

In March 2010 I bought my 2009 DB9 for £89k but the Dealer pointed to a brand new Vantage in the showroom (advertised at £110k) and said he could 'wrangle' it if I wanted that car at 'pretty much the same price'.

I wanted a DB9 so I politely refused smile

It's not that hard in economic times like these. Rob on here is an ex dealer ( car!) and knows the trade and will be much more eloquent in explaining the nuances of dealers and manufacturers. At certain points AML will give different levels of support to their dealers and it's understanding those trigger points that will help you get the best deal. Converseley you can walk into a dealers and they won't budge on a price.

I acquired a V8 Vantage with a £20k discount as it was in build at the time of order. The spec was better than the pre owned i was looking at and cost me £3k more than the pre owned! I sold 20 month later and took a hit of £20k depreciation. I sold to a dealer as it was quick and painless as i don't have the patience or nature to deal with tyre kickers. In retrospect i could have attained an extra £5k by selling privately and the dealer moved the car in within a week carrying a £10k premium.
