Is anyone on here a member? I am contemplating joining but would like to hear from other members as to whether they think its worthwhile, I do like the socialising factor these types of clubs create and love the drives they arrange etc

COMMENTS ANYONE??

Hi Kevin. Glad to hear you are enjoying your Aston. You've got a lovely car there. I am a member of AMOC, in fact the Area Rep for the South West, and I very much enjoy being a member of the Club you won't be surprised to hear. There will be some on here who have a very different view which is a shame and sometime AMOC areas do not help themselves.

I would suggest you go along to some of their meetings and see if it is for you - each area is different. Hopefully it will be. In the SW we mainly attract the more modern Aston and very much focus on the social side.

You should be able to tell from the AMOC website but if you can't pm me and I will find out what is coming up local to you and tell you how to book in.

I'm in Northern Ireland, from what I see there seems to be very little activity here. For that reason I see little benefit for me, but if there was a bit of a local scene then I probably would. Just to receive a few magazines etc it seems rather hard to justify the cost. From some of the posts I have read on here, it would also seem that there is also some discord within the club. I was in the DLOC for some time and attended some mainland events which I really enjoyed.

Yep, I'm a member although strangely for Pistonheads I. Don't own a Gaydon car wink . There's ltrs going on with club this year, race meetings, drives, tours, concours, monthly pub meetings etc. I find it worthwhile and have met some great people and been on some memorable events!

They're not trying to sell you anything it's an array of member's photographs for people to look at and enjoy. I'd have thought that as you're a powerfully built company director you'd have realised that hehe

P.s. the ownership section of the forum is open to guests if you thinking of buying one (Aston that is not Fiat) assuming you don't have one that is.

well whatever its trying to do its a mess, the AMOC site has never been great but thats a case study in how not to do a site.

(For info, I own an Aston and Im a member of AMOC, I just havent been to the site for some time)

Well have a look at the Ferrari Owners Club, as an example, and then tell me that the AMOC site is even remotely in the same league.

To get the thread back on topic, yes they do Kevin. Each year there are European tours and less formal events organised by the country reps. A couple of years ago I went on a 4 x day tour to the champagne region which was an absolute hoot. This year I'm going on the 'grand tour' through France, Switzerland and Italy including a track session at Monza plus other attractions! It really depends what you want from your membership. One of my good friends with a DB9 is in North Yorks area and they have a very actlive section.

I guess it is what you get used to. I am used to the AMOC site and find what I want easily. Went on the FOC site trying to find something about my local area and got nowhere quickly.

Admitidly the AMOC site looks a bit busy but at least I can find what I'm looking for. I also like the picture gallery section with continually changing pictures of Members cars.

Different club, different structure

You mean all the pictures posted by the same person on the same day two months ago? Whoever Ockyclarke is they had a busy time back on the 7th of February.

you must not look at the site enough wink the pictures change a few times a day on a rotating basis. Or perhaps you look at them exactly the same time on a random basis and see the same pictures biglaugh
