I like your enjoyment of numbers (profile). So, 80p per mile for depreciation.Running any (originally) £100,000 car is bound to be expensive, but I think many of us feel Aston Martin ownership is worth every penny. For this reason, I don't attempt precise calculations for my P&J.
However, over five years and 50,000 miles, my 'daily driver transport' has depreciated at only 1·6p per mile. That should leave plenty for my V8V.
By the way, I don't think our Vantages will bottom out at £30,000.

Yes, yes I should. However, Bogie nailed this on the head. When the weather is dry & sunny I think I'd rather spend a day on my 1098 which is why I did 5k last year on the Ducati and eff all in the Aston. Times are tighter now than a few years ago so justifying 2 bikes & 2 cars is tricky ... man maths only works for so long. Hell, I might spend a year without a Sunday car.

If you have done that number of miles on your bike vs car, it's got nothing to do with the weather, or conditions of road etc....... you just prefer your bike.
My last serious car was a 911 GT3 , yet I now enjoy hooning a Caterham r300, at 1/3 the value, much more.

so thats another reason to keep it...whatever else I buy is bound to depreciate more ...so if I keep this until its done 100K miles, I will have had value for money out of it

I'm just always surprised how much people are put off by rain. Sure I'm not in a monsterous V12V, and whilst of course it's not as fun as a beautiful dry day, for me it's still enjoyable. You'd think Aston's were made out of paper mache the way some people talk about it.

That very much reminds me of the great times I had in my Elise 10+ years ago. Hooning around at much lower speeds and a back to basics feel was good. took mine for a £5 wash treat earlier. Don't think they break if they aren't constantly cleaned and detailed.

Depends on your Elise, weirdly I sold mine because it was toooo fast, I had it set up so it was at its best at 9/10ths and I was getting too comfortable driving it like that. The great thing is the Aston is happy to waft around in comfort also if that's your bag

I think it is a mistake to polish these cars and treat them like fine porcelain - I did this for a couple of years but am enjoying the car much more since I use it for a commute - got the roof down yesterday at the first sign of sun - nothing like listening to the v12 burble bounce off the walls of the city centre as you weave your way through it. Don't lose it - use it!
