It would appear ms wendy is snowed at OYA. I have zero idea which of the strakes would work on a DB9. Guess we will go without for now

FYI

First order is under way with 5 off us, but I have dropped out due to Gearbox issues with my E30 Track project.

So some of the others have taken over the baton and progressed the order with Wendy.

Pop me a mail with your details and I will forward it to the others.

If not wait till the spring and I will be doing another order. My car will be tucked away in a warm garage for the winter anyway so no need for carbon bits at the mo'

The group buy from OYA carbon turned up last week. A big thanks to Robert Aldsworth (not sure of his username on Pistonheads) for arranging everything with Wendy at OYA and for organising onward transport to us all once the bits arrived in the UK.

I ordered the rear diffuser (P/N AM10) and the front splitter (P/N AM13) and am really impressed with the quality of the bits. I was pretty keen on getting the parts on the car a.s.a.p. so fitted them over the weekend with the help of Andy Parr's (PUMPMAN1860) instructions for fitting the rear diffuser which he provided via email. It took around 6 hours in total to fit the diffuser and some steps are definitely a 2 man job. A big thanks goes out to Andy as I'm sure it would have taken twice as long without his fitting instructions! The front splitter on the other hand is a really simple swap and took all of 10 minutes.

Here is a summary of Andy's instructions / what I did to fit to rear diffuser. Hopefully it will be of use to anyone else contemplating fitting it themselves....

1. Remove rear wheels and wheel arch liners.
2. disconnect and remove rear light assemblies.
3. Remove bumper retaining torx bolts (x2) that are located a) behind the puncture repair kit on the rhs and b) behind the carpet panel on the LHS
4. Remove bolts (x2) in each rear light recess.
5. Remove bolts securing bumper to wheel arch (6).
6. Now under the car, remove the bolts (x4) securing the bumper to the brackets near the tail pipe finishers.
7. With assistance from someone, release bumper from the body slightly. Please note that there are some fasteners that clip into the top of the of the existing lower meshes that need releasing and there is also some heavy duty velcro located in the centre of the bumper above the number plate which needs to be released by pulling up. Once these are all released the bumper should come away from the body.
8. With the bumper held a few inches away from the body, release the fir trees securing the wiring harness to the bumper (x6). This is quite tricky and requires one person to support the bumper while the other releases the fir trees.
9. Release remaining harness clips from bumper and disconnect multiplugs to parking aid sensors and multiplugs to license plate lamps.
10. The bumper can now be moved completely away from the body and can be placed to one side. Be careful as the bumper is quite flexible once released. Please note the tail pipe finishers are attached to the bumper and will come away with the bumper.
10. Remove the original diffuser, meshes, the 2 central parking sensors and associated brackets.
11. Remove the existing parking sensors and sensor holders from the existing brackets as these will need to be fitted to the new carbon diffuser. The holes in the new diffuser are a little too small for the sensor holders so I therefore spent some time with some small files carefully fettling the holes in the diffuser until the sensor holder 'clipped' in properly.
12. Fit new diffuser to bumper which will require the drilling of some holes in the bumper to line up with the pre-drilled holes in the diffuser. The inside edge of the bumper and the inside edge of the diffuser when aligned provide the best position for the diffuser. This is the datum for drilling. I used some stainless steel M6 x 15mm hex screws with nyloc nuts and some washers to secure the diffuser to the bumper.
13. The bumper and diffuser assembly can then be fitted to the car (again get someone to help). Make sure all of the multiplugs are re-connected properly and the fir tree fixings for the the wiring harness are re-attached to the inside of the bumper before fitting it to the car. You will have a few fastners left over from the existing lower meshes / diffuser which are no longer needed.

Here are some photo's showing most of the bits removed from the rear of the car (the 2 central parking sensors and brackets are still attached at this point);

And here are a few of the finished result;

The new bits go well with my existing OEM carbon side strakes and carbon mirror housings from Vorland Technic.

Hello John,

Good to see the parts arrived intact and the fitting went to plan. The carbon parts really work well with your colour scheme, especially the wheels.

What are your thoughts on the front splitter? It looks less full-on than the full width offering from OYA but appears to be more pronounced than the N420/AM factory add-on kit.

Regards, Rob.

Looks great John, blends well with your other Carbon parts.

Didn't get round to doing mine as other priorities came along, I'm also a bit unsure how it would look on my Lightning Silver which hasn't got any other Carbon parts.

Will have a proper look next time I see you.

I'got one on Lightning Silver and the only other carbon bit is the front lip. TBH I think it would enhance it if the side strakes were also in carbon. I'll try and get a pic up although it'll be at the McGurks do on the 6th if you're going

Are you looking to add some sills? Maybe the Vanatage S or N420 ones?

Hi Rob.... thanks again for arranging the group buy and the onward shipping.

I'm really pleased with the front splitter and is definitely more pronounced than the N420/AM factory part. My car is fitted with H&R lowering springs so I think the full width offering from OYA would have been a bit too much considering all of the speed bumps near where I live in central London.

Yes, I'm looking at getting the Vantage S / V12 sills fitted at some point. That will be the last of the exterior mods!

I will be doing the GB again in Jan / Feb if anyone else is interested?

(Arranged it all for everyone then pulled out as my other stupid car spat its dummy out!)

Mark, a big thanks to you for originally kicking off the group buy and liaising with OYA. I hope you got your track car sorted and it didn't cost too much!
