Carbon Parts from China
Discussion
A previous post by Jarodw highlighted the Chinese company OYA Carbon responsible for making Aston Martin Carbon Fibre parts. We contacted them for a sample, but they wouldn't provide for a retail customer suggesting we order a small part, which is fair enough. So we thought we would take one for the Pistonheads team and risk making an order, paying in advance and waiting to see... if the parts were good we could all get kitted up for this summer
We ordered the following;
AM10 Rear Diffuser $510.00
AM14 Side Strakes $255.00
AM23 2x Front Lip splitter $430.00
Bank Fee $25.00
DHL Cost $268.00
Total $1488.00
Converted to £ was approx £990.00
Import duty 4.5% automotive parts
VAT @ 20%
Total £1245
We ordered and sent payment of 5th March.
The order was complete and dispatched on 3rd April.
The parts were sent and tracked with DHL taking just 3 days to arrive.
The service has been good, with good communication and daily response to every email I have sent.
I was a little concerned that they did not send one item, keeping it back to be sent with my next order, but this was then promptly sent, so the customer service has been great.

I would have prefered to order through Alibaba as this provide payment protection throught ESCROW and allows for inspection at source, but OYA didn't want to upload the parts to their online catalogue. That said OYA were more than happy for me to send someone over to the factory to inspect and accept the items before shipping, which I sprung on them with at the end (but didn't actually do), but they were more than happy and welcomed the opportunity to show the parts were as ordered. Again good customer service and quick to respond on email.
I didn't phone, I only emailed, as I thought this would make it easier for them to translate and check before responding.
I am not an expert in Carbon Fibre and reservations were previously raised on the original thread as to the manufacture, production process and finish of the items. I have attached some images as an example. Anyone who would like to inspect them is more than welcome too, I am based in Newport South Wales, I might be able to meet at the Mid Wales run in Brecon in a couple of weeks if the organisers don't mind me tagging along.
I am getting the parts fitted next week at Newtown Motors by their race engineer, so will upload more photos then...

Well i work in F1 and they look pretty good for what they are. Most people don't cure wet laid CF under vacuum as its quite costly for the extra bagging materials so the carbon never sits right up against the mould surface giving an uneven look. This company appears to be doing the right thing and not cutting corners.
Some of the weave have been a bit distorted round the corners in places but that takes a lot of experience so is very difficult to achieve.
All in all they look nice pieces.

I agree with GingerMunky, the parts are high quality and for sure worth the money, though I am not an expert in carbon fibre either. Below some pictures from the CF side strakes I ordered. They are full CF and not laminated....I am happy with the quality especially considering the price. I hope it will be an easy installation.

Wow... much better quality than I would have expected! I wonder if that is their autoclave or just a picture of an autoclave
Those parts do look like they have been pressure cured. This is what wet lay CF looks like that hasn't been subjected to any pressure.

Exactly what I thought, so I checked the first few hundred images in Google.com and .hk just incase, but didn't find a match
If you go to http://www.tineye.com/ its a reverse image search engine, so you can see if any image has been found on any other sites. The images does not show up on any other site, so is probably legit.4xTrader said:
