One of my friends bobbed round last week to show off his new toy. A bright yellow Gallardo spyder. Sat on my drive it looked quite stunning.

I nicked the key off him & took it for a quick run round the block with his lad. It sounds really good and drove surprisingly well.

I was driving it for no more than 5 mins and got called a w®®Ker twice :@)

I thought that was quite funny at the time, but would you really want that? In the 3 years I've had the V8V it has never caused that reaction. Maybe I've changed....

I like the car (except the black wheels, I'd want them in silver), but the only thing that would put me off is the interior of it. Sooo dreary and disapointing for such an expensive car.

Wouldn't really bother me getting called a wker, I've been called worse.

I'd hate that but doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

Clarkson wrote an article which said anywhere in the world they'd be enthusiastic about a supercar, here you get called a w@@ker shout

I have mentioned in other posts that over the last year I have had mixed responses when out in the V8V.
Most are positive and people in general do like to see and hear the car, but there are just a few idiots out there that see you as a target!

I have come to realise over the years that whatever you have in life, someone will want to damage, steal or abuse it.. thats just the society we live in.

grumpy old man :-)

Yes, but usually they are in a Corsa with a big bore so I don't lose any sleep over it. wink

I really like them, and it is a consideration for me next. However, the more flash the car, the more boring I want the colour! So if I was to get something Italian it would be grey or black. I think the yellow/green/orange Lambo's are far too "look at me", even if that's not the owners intention.

I love that in an Aston (most) people don't assume you're a wker. They have to meet me first before they think that wink

I think the Gallardo is a lovely car for someone else. As for the w@@ker status, I have never had this since I got the Aston but with my BMW the response was to say "excuse me young person the correct term is 'rich w@@ker' now f@@k off." biggrin

Just this minute I pulled up to the lights and a guy in a family car with his daughter in a kiddy seat n the back started looking. I gave them a wave and he wound down the window and told me his daughter just said " look Daddy, a James Bond car".
I gave them a crowd pleaser with the right pedal and was waved on my way.
THAT'S what makes my day.

Also his wife took one look at and said, "I will never go out with you in that!"

I think it was an itch needing to be scratched and another box ticked.

I was surprised how civilised it was to drive and how good the ebox was, I thought that would be a pig. The throttle blips on the down change are something else - actually that probably accounts for the w@@ker comments!

It would be nice to have for the odd sunny afternoon, but not to own.

Ive always fancied a lambo and may have one sometime when I can afford it as a 2nd car...its really a flashy weekend toy or for holidays

not something that I would drive everyday, for a variety of reasons

Astons are (relatively) discreet and practical in comparison smile

Remember that some people are able to communicate their wker status just by making judgemental comments on a public forum hehe
Any takers?! smile

I took out a Gallardo Spyder on a test drive and had a woman in a new corsa wave her arms at me frantically pointing, smiling and it seemed in genuine appreciation. I was surprised and almost help sell the car to me - but the interior is not special enough IMHO and it wasn't as fast as I was expecting.
