Okay guys an update to my OP.

I spoke to the service guy at AM Stratstone and he said it was unusual for the Bluetooth module to fail.
The problem I have is that the Phone menu in the car cannot be accessed so the car cannot search for my phone to pair with the AM Bluetooth
After some discussion he thought that a hard reset would be worth a try.
In other words disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Or
Lift the carpet at the passenger footwell, remove an aluminium access panel that gives access to the cabin fuse box and pull the fuse for the Bluetooth module.
The advantage of this is that it only removes power to the Bluetooth module.

I just had a quick look in the car and this seems to be the way forward, it looks as if it would only take minutes to access the cabin fuse box.

As an aside to this, there was a post recently where the OP had a problem with the door modules and he opted to strip the door card off to disconnect the modules as opposed to
accessing the cabin fuse box, this is now in the FAQ's section, but this looks like much more work than accessing the cabin fuse box which also houses the fuses for the door modules.

As an other aside I think the Bluetooth module is in the centre of the dash, behind the Sat Nav, early cars had a Motorola Bluetooth module fited which changed at MY08 perhaps?

When I get round to trying this I will photograph for future reference.
Cabin fuses are listed in the handbook although the Bluetooth module is listed against two different fuses
Hi, did you ever get this resolved?

I ended up buying a new Bluetooth module to resolve this issue and the local AM specialist fitted it in 20 minutes

Thanks for the update, think this could be the same problem I'm experiencing.
Just to check, when i press the voice command to pair phone it silences the radio but i hear no prompt to pair phone.
Was this the same for you and did the new bluetooth module fix the voice command to enable pairing?

I think you have an earlier version of the telephone bluetooth control than in my car.
My V8 Roadster is a MY 2008 and does not have the voice command function.
