I currently have a 2012 Jaguar XKR S and am looking to buy an Aston. I love Aston's but which model would compare to the XKR S. Your help would be much appreciated.

IMHO a V12 Vantage is the way to go.

Yup, DBS or V12V - can't really see you straying onto a DB9, Virage or Rapide

Are you looking for a similarly mental GT .....or just a mental car ?? smile

This is in addition too. I love the Jag but really fancy an Aston..i like cars that come with all the goodies and that are as good to drive. Trunk space in the Jag is premium..have trouble getting 2 suitcases in!! Also the problem is i am not up to speed on the models. It has to have a decent sound system(DAB), Sat Nav, Phone, ipod connection etc etc and above all it has to sound good. Think i better get researching i suppose.

Then it has to be a V12 Vantage. vantage has the most luggage space of all the models.

And you'll need to buy this:-

I agree on DBS

In general, XK gets compared to vantage more than DB9/S because they are more similarly priced but in concept and execution, XK and DB9 are quite similar

Yes the XKRS is the most lairy Jag & V12V the most lairy aston and yes, bootspace is better in the vantage coupe BUT a combination of transmission, some (albeit rubbish) back seats and driving style make DBS IMHO a far more similar comparison

I'd be interested to hear what the OP thinks when he tries the DBS compared to his XKR-S.

The simple fact is that the Jaaag is a fantastic car. The XKR-S motor is a monster. I was blown away when I drove one at Thruxton.

While the DBS has all sorts of V12 awesomeness and it looks simply lovely, I confess to being a little concerned that the XKR-S may have an answer to anything the DBS can offer ( other than looking lovely, having a V12 and being an Aston ) !

This makes for interesting reading: http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/aston_martin_db...

The XKR-S is way too heavy.

Interesting, if maybe not too scientific ! Dunno how they get their data..

At face value then, they seem to have pretty much identical performance.

Not sure about the weight comparison though. According to the font of truth that is Wiki, the Jag is lighter than the Aston, not heavier. Jag is 1660kg vs Aston 1695kg....

I had an XKR-S for a day last year as I was considering changing the DBS.

It's at least as fast as the DBS.

They are both pretty heavy cars.
