Discussion
Morning all,
It was probably overdue but 8 months in to " training bra " ownership I thought it was about time to take to the track and get some tuition on how to get a bit more out of the car. On the recent open day up at Generation AMR I spoke to James and decided to get something sorted.
Now, my track driving experience is virtually zero so my main aim was to just push the car up to the limit of grip in relative safety, without having to worry about other traffic etc. and to get a bit more confidence in what it will and won't do.
We were using the Prodrive track near Warwick last Saturday ( thankfully warm and sunny ) and only had to share with half a dozen other vehicles intermittently throughout the day. There was the added bonus of a skid pan and 'icy road' with sprinklers in the infield to have a bit of fun with and break up the hot laps round the main circuit, both of the former a giggle for some low speed shenanigans.
For me, I really enjoyed the day and got a lot out of it, James, despite being about 12 years old , was calm and gave instruction really well, I was much better at the end of the day compared to the start and would recommend giving it a go to anyone in a similar position.

I cannot praise Geoff enough, his willingness to listen, learn and ability to pick up every instruction given was actually quite astonishing. From smooth lines, wet grip surface driving and to heal and toeing, Geoff had all mastered within his first or second ever attempt! Made my job for the day quite easy and from midday onwards I felt like I was acting as ballast!

Hi James,Being local I may be interested. Tell me please what qualifications do you have to teach advanced driving techniques?
Cheers

I don't have any qualifications, however I am very experienced in driving many high performance cars and have been the AMR GT4 development driver for a number of years and raced the cars at a european race winning level. All I can say is speak to Geoff to see if he would be happy to recommend me as a piece of paper saying you are qualified at something does not mean you are necessarily any good at it ;-)
Cheers
James

James,
I've just exchanged a few emails with Gettoff.
Would it be feasible to organise a day for a number of us at the Prodrive track? Something along the lines of an instructor per driver, or one instructor between 2 drivers?
I'd certainly be up for it.
Certainly can, if we can get a number of people together then we can go from there and as discussed with Geoff, I could also sort some driving in a GT4 car!I've just exchanged a few emails with Gettoff.
