Weight of seat
Discussion
Could we combine this with the "man math" thread? The weight saving and looks must result in better mpg and resale value. Could that make them a profitable contribution to the car?
I love the red ones. Not sure aftermarket would work as well as originals. But would be interested in seeing what people have done ( and a few more pics of the lightweight options).

Very nice!!
The Aston seats don’t have the harness slots and the side access is lower and easier, I had the same style of seats and harnesses as your picture in a track car and they were great but my Mrs would not be pleased.
Are you going to use the electric Aston base or a fixed sub-frame?

Having just had to remove my seats to have them re-trimmed I would say nearer to 40 Kilo's.
I have been looking into a lightweight alternative however unfortunately the Cobra Misano seats I fitted to my Porsche Turbo are slightly too wide, also due to the deep sill on the Vantage you cannot adjust the back using the hand wheel!!
I was at Aston Martin in Derby last week and they had a V12V in the showroom with lightweight seats which I was surprised to see were fixed back, however they still used the original electric adjustable rails for front and back movement, height and the clever part they even tilt the fixed seat.
I have spoken to Cobra and they have said that they are looking to develop a range of quality carbon fibre fixed back sports seats in several different styles, these can be specked to individual customer needs so they will have an OEM look.
As soon as I have more details I will post up my findings and pictures as I will definitely be having a pair for my Vantage as the original Aston ones work out to be about £8K ouch !!!!!!!!!!!!

Might be worth talking to a Recaro dealer?

these seats were launched first in DBS but you pretty much never see them for sale with those seats
I find it odd that they won't do them as a heated seat, but keep them electric. To me it should be one or the other - once there is no heated element and all you can do is move them forwards/backwards and adjust the angle of the entire seat, you'd think they would do away with the electric side of things altogether which would reduce even more weight and lower them, which would be no bad thing at all
To put heated in can't have been difficult or in the scheme of things, costly, bearing in mind the cost of the lightweight seat without the heated element

Carbon Fibre is conductive and flammable
It's not an option from Recaro as the seats are based on motorsport shells
Did I mention I'm going to do it on mine
I agree on the electric movement, but then at this level of car most expect it.
Hi Adam
As long as the seats are approved which all Cobra seats are then you would be covered, the other point is that I would always refit my original seats, which is what I did when I sold my Porsche Turbo.
As you rightly say you will not get more for having the non standard seats I sold my Misano seats on Pistonheads this added up to a "man maths profit" !!!
To Mikey K the problem you will find is that Recaro will not offer a custom solution and will only want to sell standard off the shelf designs.

I wouldn't expect anything else. I would then be looking to get it to a good trimmer to have an AWFUL lot of luxury added to it; quilted leather, heating elements, 'Aston' script stritching and so on.yeti said:

So you would save weight on the seat, then add it all back on by covering it in heavy leather and heating elements? yeti said:

Body coloured back
alcantara cushions in a contrasting colour
heaters
none electric frames
Thank you all for the feedback.
For cons, the Status is a problem for the location of the seats, I received this email:
"Hello Vincent,
I haven't forgotten just waiting for the dimensions. Also unfortunately we do not have a seat base for your car so that will be another issue but for the seats that you showed me in the picture it will be $1440 your cost a seat and $236.25 for harnesses a piece. You wil need side mounts as well so you are looking at another $100 a seat then sliders are $60 a piece. The seat base you will have to have fabricated or find another manufacturer that builds them.
If you have any more questions let me know
"
I asked for a bid for a seat sport Aston Martin, but the price is £ 4089.28 for the cheapest ...
The sport Aston seat:
If someone has a solution in another brand, I am very interested (not a problem if the seat is not heated).

Nice idea but the GT4's use a Recaro with the HANS system and head side protection, seeing either side of you will be a problem
Like I said talk to a Recaro retailer they will be able to suppy SPA's in what ever trim you want with a mount to suit
I'm sure you're right re the RecarosLike I said talk to a Recaro retailer they will be able to suppy SPA's in what ever trim you want with a mount to suit
I did think about the side protection but there are definitely some GT$s without - http://www.nicholasmeeracing.co.uk/cars

IIRC the N24 had those as well
Recaro do a "retail version" of the Pole Position it was used in M3CSL's, 996 GT3's and a fair few other road cars
It is very easy to get a mount to suit a car especially if you don't car too much about tilt adjustment.
Easy to paint how you like and cover how you like as well.
