I am sorry to read about your bad experience drmw, and consequently can understand your conclusion.

Perhaps you have just been unlucky, with the particular car that you have.

I maybe temping fate now, but my Vantage is the same year as yours, and during almost two years of ownership, nothing has gone wrong. I also have the workshop printouts from new, and only very minor unscheduled items have ever required attention.

Hopefully you will give Aston Martin another chance.

+1
I'm seeing this as a typical Friday tongue-in-cheek thread wink

I think most people on here have a lot of respect for Jags or indeed most other marques smile

Me too. But does feeling good about your car really hurt anyone? smile
Not in the slightest otherwise we would all be driving Fords. smile

Feeling good about your own car though is one thing and I sincerely hope everyone here does - I just don't like it when that develops into a delusion of superiority.

I do feel good about mine - most of the time. What's good about it is very good and I can be forgiving - but only up to a point.

Some of my comments were indeed tongue in cheek, so I'll stop posting on this thread.

A great weekend to everyone

Usually whoever define people (and their aspiration and financial situation) by the car they choose is the people who cares more to the image than the true enjoyment of having the car you want. Maybe quite a few here spent les for an used Aston compared to some there who bought a new Jag

Should others assume you would all dream about a Veyron or anything more expensive than your Aston but you cannot afford it then?

or I guess the F-Type is scaring some astonaut (at least the one's with a Vantage)

Sorry if I don't join the majority - if the right XKR came along I would swap my Vantage tomorrow

Sure, it's not as "exclusive", but it's better built, more reliable, faster off the mark, more spacious and more economical.

10 months of Aston ownership has been pretty underwhelming - it has been off the road in total for over one of these months due to a combination of crap design, bad materials, poor build quality, dreadful preparation and a QC function run by Stevie Wonder

Astons are indeed relatively uncommon (then so again is herpes) but I choose my cars to drive as opposed to relative narcissist score :-)
I note your previous car was an SL55. My previous car was also an SL55 which I have to say was fabulous.....a 4.3 Vantage would seem rather underpowered coming from a SL55.

Sorry to hear you've had a crappy experience up to now.......I've had 3 previously owned Astons and never had a major problem

Makes my day when I see a jag xk owner climbing in to their vehicle, dropping the windows, putting the shades on, turning up the tunes, and then pull away and BOOOM! There's an Aston in yer face!
biggrin

(Got nothing against XKs, they're good motors!)

But most that I see, that see my Aston tend to look rather disappointed...

I love my Aston

I feel the same way when I see someone in a 4.3 Vantage biggrin

Likewise, I love flying past Aston's in the XKR-S, and watching them disappear in the rear view mirror, as the Aston drivers tears well up and they wonder why they just wasted so much money to have something positively ..... inferior!

On a serious note, the Vanquish is rather wonderful, it has great presence and their is no better place to sit back and listen to radio 4.

I parked opposite Damian Lewis the other day as we dropped our sons at school. He was I. His silver XK RS cabrio. We nodded. I don't think he felt inferior.

Let's face it though Robbo, doesn't seem to take much to curl your toes does it? The mere talk of parking next to another Aston or going out in daylight hours seems to send shivers down your spine smile

Pretty sure it's all tongue in cheek, I love Jags and want to own an XJR very soon biglaugh

Ooow careful. The 4·3 owners will now want to remove their tell tale roof aerials, and fit new windscreens.
