Makes my day when I see a jag xk owner climbing in to their vehicle, dropping the windows, putting the shades on, turning up the tunes, and then pull away and BOOOM! There's an Aston in yer face!
biggrin

(Got nothing against XKs, they're good motors!)

But most that I see, that see my Aston tend to look rather disappointed...

I love my Aston
:P
Likewise, I love flying past Aston's in the XKR-S, and watching them disappear in the rear view mirror, as the Aston drivers tears well up and they wonder why they just wasted so much money to have something positively ..... inferior!

On a serious note, the Vanquish is rather wonderful, it has great presence and their is no better place to sit back and listen to radio 4.

Cool! and it's still just a jag wink

It ain't all about speed Mr!
If you're important enough, people will wait wink

I never actually watch links to videos without some sort of explanation as to what it is.
Usually it's just a video showing the opposite side of the argument!
Hence why I don't watch!

Are they Jag vs Aston vids by any chance?
I'm assuming a drag race?
A review about why an XKR-SSSSSSSSSSSS is better and faster than an Aston???

It's still JUST a jag.

Remember how DB7's used to get slated for JUST being a Jag in drag????
That's belittling jags.

Btw. Before the comments come flying in at me.
I LIKE JAGS. I THINK THEY ARE GREAT!

But I adore Astons. Good, bad AND ugly!

oh one last thing...
I have 911s and mercs fly past me all the time on the motorway etc! I don't even contemplate trying to race when I know I won't win!
But I have the Aston Martin.

Giving the feeling that you are spending more time looking at the others and how the supposely react and cathegorising and judging them for the car they have more than enjoing your Aston ownership wink

I feel the same way when I see someone in a 4.3 Vantage biggrin
I can't imagine you see them for long in your lard arse DB9, you must wish, at least sometimes, you had bought the faster, smaller, proper sports car?

Right, I am off to the pub for me pint of mild and a chug on the pipe.

My 2p.... It's Friday. It's sunny and its going to be a great Aston weekend.

Many dealer have Jag and Aston showrooms side by side. It makes it very easy to look at new jag and a "Pre-owned" Aston. It then comes down to a choice of shiney new numberplates or style smile Thank g@d they don't all want Astons otherwise there wouldn't be any for us. (If its speed I'd rather a GTR over the Jag)

People by Astons for lots of reasons but for most I'm sure it's a childhood ambition and they simply love what they drive. Hence the loyalty and acceptance of a few little niggles. But I'm also like the way 99% of people appreciate the car. Had a traffic warden this morning say he would never put a ticket on such a nice car (ok he must be an exception).

Time to go for a pose.... I mean drive. Lovin it...

That's a great garage of cars you've got awg. The old Marina TC wow that brings back old memories. I see you've still got an Aston though.

Beware.

A friend who has raced a Mini Cooper for 40 years, used to be told, "I had one of those." It then became, "My father had one of those." Now, "My grandfather had one of those."

Wow. This thread took off quickly. Wading in with my 2 pence worth.

I love driving my DB9. Not the fastest car. No idea how it compares to a jag except to say I have been a passenger in a number of jags and never seen anyone take a picture of the car, come up and talk to us when filling up with petrol or parked up. I do get that in the aston. For whatever reason they are considered "special" and I like that.

Let's face it though Robbo, doesn't seem to take much to curl your toes does it? The mere talk of parking next to another Aston or going out in daylight hours seems to send shivers down your spine smile

Pretty sure it's all tongue in cheek, I love Jags and want to own an XJR very soon biglaugh
Mmm...it does actually, though I would need to wear open toe sandals to allow full toe curl, in order to park in line in a public area along side a gaggle of other Astons. wink

Given the tone of this thread I would suggest you put an advertising like "this is not for the poor who will by a Jag, this is the real thing" Or with the cost of a new Jag (but do not mention the F-Type) you can have an Aston Vantage

It seems to be a good reason to buy one at least with some biggrin

Yes, if I could afford it I'd happily swap for a V12V roadster. thumbup
